Thanks, probably just going to leave money in there to pay credit card, unless they significantly underperform the market.

I agree. That's why I opted out. However, most banks offers 2.35% as of today, so if $35k sitting in another bank earning 2.35% APY, then there is no harm transferring into Discover to earn the same 2.35% APY, but based on unclear information from them you may get $450 bonus. Its a gamble.

My account ach cleared on 10/25 from Ally Bank to Doscover

Discover added the bonus $450 on 10-26

I will pull it back to Ally, and then take a swing at another bonus from Discover for my wife.

Maybe make it a double play for $900

I was trying to open a joint account with wife as the primary acct holder. It didn't even give me a choice to do that then asked me to call in. The rep put me on hold then came back and told me I would need to get a document notarized and a copy of her driver license LOL. He said that's what the system told him. I then told the rep to cancel the application.

CaptialOne did ask me for a copy of driver license but none of them have ever asked me to go to a notary and I have accts with Vio Bank, CapitalOne and Amex.

Come to think of it I did apply for a saving acct with Discover a long time ago and something about the process that pissed me off causing me to cancel the application.

Fyi - bonus posted 1 day after my $35k deposit but they emailed saying funds won't be available for withdrawal for 30 days. So while there might not be a holding period requirement for the deal, they'll do a hold probably since it's a new account.

Yes I had a credit card but not a savings account. It came the day after the $35k hit the account.
