Be aware this is quite small at 34mm diameter with a 16mm strap. It also does not have Marathon's signature Tritium tubes. This is basically a small plastic watch with a nylon strap.

If you are not wanting the military spec, this price or less will buy a nice G-Shock [amazon.com], Casio MDV-106 [amazon.com] or even a tad more for an automatic Seiko 5 field watch (SNK807 [amazon.com],SNK805 [jomashop.com]).

Agreed. Although the Marathon has a Swiss ETA F06 movement and the Duro has a Miyota 2115. That said, I do watch repair and I recently had the complete set of every color of the Duro. Kinda regret selling them all..but, wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. Also, I have a rather small wrist and the Duros are a bit large for me.

True that this is on the smaller end by today's standards, but 34-35mm was standard men's size not that long ago, and the counterpoint is that this is a perfect size for those with smaller wrists. My understanding is that the smaller size is easier to fit under the cuff for uniforms.

Tritium is definitely what you are paying for on the higher end models, but this is still a great deal for those wanting a "swiss made" field watch with a sapphire crystal. The Marathon site lists MSRP on this model at $240 and I don't think that is highly inflated. Most retailers list the watch for around $200 and so I think the $74 price point is lower than what you'll get elsewhere.

That said, I do watch repair

What is your opinion about repairing a 27-year old Tissot watch?
I purchased the watch in Lucerne Switzerland in 1995.
I thought I needed a new battery, but the guy at the jewelry store told me the watch needs a new movement.
He estimates that the movement would cost $125.

this is my two cents. i used to be more into watches. i had a particular taste: simplicity, durability, and minimalism. then i decided if a watch's display window is not sapphire, i would stay away.

I'd need to know the movement. But, that sounds about right considering if it's a Swiss movement. But, I could give you an estimate based on knowing the exact model. You're welcome to PM me. 👍

Awesome price for a lightweight military watch. I have the Marathon TSAR and it is a beast. In for one.

I used to be into watches also. My thing was old Omega Chronos.

Anyway, I got tired of it all and servicing watches that I wouldn't be wearing much.

Now I wear Citizen titanium Sapphire Atomic EcoDrives. These things are bombproof. The one I've been wearing everyday for 10 years has been through he accidentally banging into all kinds of things. I have two spare EcoDrives waiting to go into service but the original one won't die and keeps time perfectly.

Thanks for the heads up - It was out of stock last night but looks like it came back. I preferred the green anyways, so it was a no brainer to grab one.

Edit: Also, if you sign up for the Jcrew account for free shipping, you might wait to see if you get a 15% off coupon in your e-mail. It brought my total down to $67 shipped.
