I saw two powerstack batteries sitting in a shopping cart at my local HD. They were not in packaging and there was a lot of misc crap in this cart. Being in a very high crime area I walked up to the CSR rep and told them hey look, there are $260 worth of batteries that are going to walk away at any moment. She walked over with me, called someone from the department who then came and said someone brought them in to be recycled. I said well if they are going to be recycled would you mind if I had them to work on? The guy said it's up to CSR (with a look on his face like well I am busted, fark), CSR lady said she didn't care at all. I said thank you, picked up the two batteries and walked out of the store immediately. I didn't turn around, I went straight to my car, chucked them in the trunk and went back shopping. It was only after I got done buying some stuff that I found out they were 100% brand new. So someone inside was trying to steal them or let their buddy steal them and I tried to do the right thing and ended up getting two free batteries. I know the store manager so I went back the next day and said hey I need 5 minutes of your time, explained the situation to him and offered to bring the batteries back. He looked at the batteries, He called someone from security and they started an investigation. It ended up busting a giant theft ring at my local store involving a lot of employees. Manager said I saved them $10k-40k a week easily after they tracked everyone stealing for a while. These idiots were selling it on Facebook market from what he briefly told me and they had ALL the records.
TLDR: Found 2 powerstack batteries, that were about to be stolen, alerted HD staff, I get to keep the batteries and dismantled a large theft ring.
I find it funny when people give a thumbs down for offering info, like I did. It's useful to know what deals have happened, and when, so you can make the best choice in the future.
I love when someone is like, yeah, that's an ok deal, but it was 20 dollars less a few months ago. Then, since I'm patient, I will just watch, and get the best deal possible. That is what Slickdealing is all about.

My local HD was slowly setting up for this. Already had some sales out ($99 Atomic drills) and a wall of tools but no sign yet. Pro week starts Tuesday and guessing that's when this will start in full swing.

Thanks for posting, but this deal is trash compared to last year. You got 3 free tools last year on the 599 deal. You could get 3 Flexvolt Advantage circular saws, plus, the main kit had a 60 volt circular saw. You also got a 6 ah Flexvolt battery and 5 ah 20 volt battery, instead of two 4 ah 20 volt batteries.

Yes def not good compared to last year. But that was last year not now. The only one to go with really is the 6 and 4ah starter kit and pick free tool if those are any tools anybody wants. Will be hackable or a good deal for 1 tool 2 batts and a charger
So how does the hack work with let's say the $199 kit and the 6.5" circular saw?
Typically when you buy the kit and get the free tool, both are discounted so the price comes out the same. You can then return the unwanted portion and keep the other at the discounted price
I need me a couple more power stacks.... Those little batteries are amazing. Especially in really hot or cold weather. I live in the socal mountains where Summer can get up to 90 and Winter down to 20. Those swings are rough on batteries, for most applications the power stacks rule. I have tons of 4&5a batteries for when I need 'em.
So I only need a 1/2" DeWalt impact wrench. What is the best way to buy this at the best price without paying for extras? Do I buy the XR Starter Kit plus free tool for $199 and then return the kit and keep the impact wrench for $99? And anyone know which impact wrench would qualify?

Just had my miter saw (dws779) and all my ridgid tools stolen from a job site. And ridgid sales insider scoops anyone is aware of? I've gotten by borrowing some stuff and have an impact and drill again. Need a new miter saw too
