Prices will drop if folks don't buy these garbage deals

if they do deals will keep getting worse
I find it funny when people give a thumbs down for offering info, like I did. It's useful to know what deals have happened, and when, so you can make the best choice in the future.

I love when someone is like, yeah, that's an ok deal, but it was 20 dollars less a few months ago. Then, since I'm patient, I will just watch, and get the best deal possible. That is what Slickdealing is all about.

Last year I bought the deal and sold the batteries for $150. Got the brushless router and angle grinder for $50 each, with some work. Better than returning for half back.

I need me a couple more power stacks.... Those little batteries are amazing. Especially in really hot or cold weather. I live in the socal mountains where Summer can get up to 90 and Winter down to 20. Those swings are rough on batteries, for most applications the power stacks rule. I have tons of 4&5a batteries for when I need 'em.
I saw two powerstack batteries sitting in a shopping cart at my local HD. They were not in packaging and there was a lot of misc crap in this cart. Being in a very high crime area I walked up to the CSR rep and told them hey look, there are $260 worth of batteries that are going to walk away at any moment. She walked over with me, called someone from the department who then came and said someone brought them in to be recycled. I said well if they are going to be recycled would you mind if I had them to work on? The guy said it's up to CSR (with a look on his face like well I am busted, fark), CSR lady said she didn't care at all. I said thank you, picked up the two batteries and walked out of the store immediately. I didn't turn around, I went straight to my car, chucked them in the trunk and went back shopping. It was only after I got done buying some stuff that I found out they were 100% brand new. So someone inside was trying to steal them or let their buddy steal them and I tried to do the right thing and ended up getting two free batteries. I know the store manager so I went back the next day and said hey I need 5 minutes of your time, explained the situation to him and offered to bring the batteries back. He looked at the batteries, He called someone from security and they started an investigation. It ended up busting a giant theft ring at my local store involving a lot of employees. Manager said I saved them $10k-40k a week easily after they tracked everyone stealing for a while. These idiots were selling it on Facebook market from what he briefly told me and they had ALL the records.

TLDR: Found 2 powerstack batteries, that were about to be stolen, alerted HD staff, I get to keep the batteries and dismantled a large theft ring.

Tools that drain batteries in no time because of high or low temps are no fun either!!!

So if I buy the starter kit for $200 and get the blower as the free tool, then return the kit, I get to keep the blower for $100?

The local HD was slowly getting ready for this. Already had some sales ($99 Atomic drills) and a wall of tools out, but no sign of life yet. My guess is that the full swing of this will begin the week after Pro Week.

Meh, reeks of self-congratulatory SJW bs to me. Dismantling a $40k per week theft ring by noticing some Dewalt batteries in a cart at HD? OK, sure, whatever. I think that would be reported in the news. Like when I took down Pablo Escobar by notifying the DEA when I noticed 2 suspicious gummies lying on the sidewalk outside of his front door. laugh out loud
Don't forget Lucille Ball taking down the communist ring by noticing a sound in her tooth filling πŸ˜‚

Either way I enjoyed the tale.
