Anyway, as someone that owns and uses both Ontario RATs and Esees, I will say that the Esees are definitely nicer, and have a better warranty, so are better if you have the money. The sheaths in particular are much better. But if money is an issue, Ontario RATs are still very capable and have similar or even identical designs. And the designs are indeed great.
I am just mad at how many knives SD has made me buy though, I do feel like a real man with an EDC

The hubs has an Esse 3, 4 and 6.
Is this one remarkably different? I'm looking to get him something as a stocking stuffer, but know next to nothing about EDC other than stick to USA.

+1… perhaps the Benchmade griptilin deal posted recently is a better option. I scooped one up and plan to change out the scales later down the line as I don't love the red

Depend on the local knife carrying law, for example, we can't carry any blade longer than 4 inches in NYC. Any blade longer than that can only stay in my house unfortunately.
