The bubbles are probably from moisture in the glue. Serious glue sticks have to be kept in sealed bags to prevent moisture absorption as it causes bubbles and sputtering. Just FYI

Not true I use the cheap mini glue from Wal-Mart with no issues.

This full size one is the old model with just one setting. It gets too hot for my tastes. Takes forever to heat up and then a long time for the glue to set because it's so hot.

Almost pulled the trigger on one of these last weekend. Looks like my hesitation saved me $10. Thanks!

Compact if you mostly do art/craft work (eg: within tight spaces etc), full size if you're using more like a woodworking/construction guy - at least that's how I use them, hope it helps

Both are good, but depends on your use case. The compact would probably be better for arts and crafts projects, as it's smaller and lighter (and uses mini-sized glue sticks), but the full-size version works well for woodwork and more "heavy-duty" projects. It will be larger and heavier, but has (optional) interchangeable tips for different bead sizes.

The larger one does not have multiple heat settings. You're thinking of the p307.

I bought one of these for my wife a while back. She loves it. It's nice not being tied down to an outlet. It doesn't take normal size mini glue sticks, but it has to be the ryobi or arrow brand for homedepot.

This full size is the original with only one heat setting p305. The newer one has 2 heat settings believe it's p306?

Seriously? Not compatible with just regular size mini sticks? Thanks for the heads up, saved me from the purchase.

I have not found this to be the case. I also bought one of these for my wife and steal it all the time, it's great! She already had multiple brands of mini glue sticks for generic corded guns and I haven't had issues with any of them.
