I got three of these with the last deal using an Amex offer. Nice size and convenient to carry around, but the battery pack only charges at around 7w and takes forever. Hardly use it anymore because most of the time when we find it around the house, it's dead and takes about 2-3hr to charge.
The best use case I can think of is if you are traveling and only have a USB-c charger with you, this will let you charge your iPhone along with your laptop, iPad Pro, and others.
I would not buy at this price.

Just FYI, this seems to be the older model to the newer 621.

I have one of these. My experience:

1) You can't overnight charge it like you would a normal wireless charger if you have battery protection on since it requires "activation." My phone will stop at 80%, turn the charger off, and since the phone doesn't have hands, it can't retrigger when it's getting ready for me to wake up to charge the extra 20%

2) 5,000 mAh isn't a ton. I enjoy it because the iPhone Mini's battery is so tiny, but due to the inefficiency of Qi vs a wired connection, don't expect a 1:1 charge ratio.

3) It's a really great idea and despite the drawbacks, I don't usually leave home without mine.

Is this compatible to iPhone 14 Promax?
I don't see why it wouldn't be. I bought this on the last deal for my 14 pro and fits fine. Don't expect a full charge from it though and it's slow. With that said, it'll be a great travel-day buddy for me.

This is true when the phone is plugged in as well? I intended to use it as a plugged in, bedside, overnight, Magsafe charger and to only take it with me when I need it.

Am I right to think I wouldn't be able to use this with a fairly thick case on my pixel 4? It has wireless charging but I've heard of people saying wireless chargers barely work WITHOUT a case on? Never used one before so I'm completely ignorant.

edit: just clicked product page and realize they're only for iPhone. Lame.

These are best used while you still have charge. Like slap it on at 70-80% not when you're at 2%.

Does this one get hot?
Bad advice because this will greatly degrade the battery. You are best slapping it on around 40% and leaving it off when you hit around 80. Unless you don't care at all about battery degradation.

But for 27 dollars it's fine for what it does.

MagSafe charging is limited to 7.5W. You can feed it more than 7.5W, but it won't make it charge any faster. It'll throttle down to that rate.
My understanding is that Magsafe can top out at 15 watts though it's usually lower based on the charger you're using and other factors like heat

I think they were under the impression that this pack charges too slowly to drive the battery up very fast if at all during use. At least they didn't recommend hooking it to your phone at 2%.

Personally, I'll stick to small 10,000 mah corded PBs or better yet my 7 watt panel charger.

Believe it or not, magsafe battery chargers and mounts are the only thing that make me envy iphone owners.

Looks like a good price. One of the lowest ive seen for the bigger batteries
Just add a metal ring to your phone = instant MagSafe!

I got this when it released. I love the charger I carry it for work. Just warning that sometimes it will last 1-1.5x a full charge for your phone, sometimes it gets it back up to 75% and blows the battery. I think it might have to do with the heat outside though. Sticks great and I have a case on my phone.

Bought this alternate and much happier:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B971L4PG?

Fast charges, has PD input/output, lightning input (!), and usb-A output. And can be charged at the same time you're charging your phone.

That's not entirely accurate

From Apple:

"When Lightning accessories such as headphones are connected, charging is limited to 7.5W to comply with regulatory standards."

" The system intelligently adapts to conditions in order to optimize charging your iPhone at up to 15W of peak power delivery for faster wireless charging. The actual power delivered to the iPhone will vary depending on the wattage of the power adapter and system conditions. For iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 mini, the MagSafe Charger delivers up to 12W of peak power delivery."

I just upgraded to a 14 Pro Max. Are these MagSafe deals common enough to wait for a newer model?
If you mean Charger speed , yes old or new are same. Apple didn't approve other accessories higher than 7.5W 😂

Only on official licensed MagSafe chargers. This is not and will only deliver 7.5w.

Kinda like this charger, your skull is thick. Also, like this charger, your head is slow. Perhaps you got overheated.
