The m3-8100Y has one big factor in its favor, in that it is based upon full-fat i-series cores. That's where the good news ends, in part because there are only two (2) cores in this CPU and not four (4). However, adding even more insult to injury is the fact that this is an ultra low power CPU model so, although it is arguably incredibly efficient, the total power limit is a mere 5W. As such this CPU is solidly positioned where almost all dual-core i-series CPUs have sat: just barely above 2- and 4-core Atom CPUs, but well below any of the 4-core i-series CPU options available which make such solid long-term performance options for the last 15+ years(!). Thankfully, though, ChromeOS doesn't haven the same performance needs as Windows and truly thrives on even minimal CPUs like this one.
Additionally, this chromebook is packing a touchscreen (despite the Best Buy documentation to the contrary) and 8GB of RAM at the sub-$200 price. That along with a nice-ish design (bordering on premium but also totally not) makes this a genuine step above the $100 basic education chromebooks. Prior to the recent cratering of the market for chromebooks this would have been a killer deal, the only thing ruining it being that x86 chromebooks with touchscreens have been crashing below their prior $200 price floor for some time. This is certainly a solid chromebook investment given the ability to competently support Android with touch screen support and the availability of 8GB of RAM (which facilitates virtualization such as Linux support). However, there have been some similarly good deals coming through in the last few months that have packed in either years more support with more modern CPUs packing just a bit more performance for a small incremental investment or value choices that deliver more thanenough performance per dollar to rest comfortably with any other associated compromises.
This is a nice deal, but it is also not likely be the last nice deal on a chromebook this year...

That's plenty for Chrome OS and 8gb ram. This is a good deal, nice screen too. 1080p IPS at almost 300 nits.

The N6000 multi-cores a little faster on average but it's close.
