Thinking of trading in my tab7+ for a tab 8, the only thing weird on my 7+ is that my USB c port thinks it's connected when there's no cord. lol. are the text easy to read on tab8?

The Tab S8 has an inferior LCD display compared to the OLED Tab S7+. Also the screen is smaller.

I justified it by my storage from 128GB on my S7 to 256GB on the S8. I also had problems with the wifi on the S7. I sent it back twice and it tested fine from Samsung. Basically, if I was watching a (downloaded) video file over the network, it would disconnect several times over the course of an hour. Normal, *online* streaming was fine, but if the file was somewhere on a file share, it would just drop randomly with the S7. I'm hoping it was just an S7 thing, but if it happens with the S8, I'll probably setup Plex (or some alternative) so I can "stream" from that. Been meaning to do that for a long time anyway.

Cool story, bro. Guessing you already have an iPhone (since you stopped buying android), which would make your statement make a little more sense. For the rest of us who don't want to play by Apple's rules and be able to do more with our devices, this is a great deal. Also guessing working an android device is a little above your skill level. Probably best to stick with Apple, in your case.

Definitely would not suggest going from S7+ to S8.

That's my only hangup too. If i could get the S8 for my still pretty brand new S7 FE with a 100 dollar difference and/or goodies thrown in id bite - but that extra 50 (for total of 150) gives me pause. A psychological thing about what truly feels like a deal vs a meh deal I guess.

Can't say for tablets, but I have traded in watches and cell phones with no accessories with no issues.

I wonder how much better the s8 is compared to the s2. Stock firmware on the s2 is terrible, but with lineage OS 16 it's still a quick stable tablet. It's also the only tab s device that seems to flash well... i don't see any rom support for the s4 or higher.
