Why the thumbs down? For $176 it doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. An extra 8gb of RAM and it seems like a good basic home PC as long as you can live with the small hard drive capacity. Can install an extra storage drive if needed.

I upgraded this prebuilt to a GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 with a passive cooler, added another 8GB kit for $30. cheap mean HTPC that's snappy and fast. only got the 1030 for $50 on facebook market.

Is i3 gen 10 (4 core 8 thread) better than i5 gen 8 (6 core 6 thread)?

Always have an impression that i3 is weak and should be avoid.

Any thoughts?

A low profile GTX 1050 Ti would fit in this PC. Many 1050's that I've seen came with a bracket that allows the card to fit, but if you lost your bracket or if your card didn't come with one, you can also buy one on Amazon for about $8-10.

If you run lots of programs at the same time then the gen 8 i5 is probably better. I'd say for 95% of people the 10th gen i3 is better though. Pretty marginal either way though

I've bought some of these for a school I work for and they are good enough for the schoolwork the students and faculty do. It's dirt cheap and comes with a 2 year warranty so we can't complain.

Would this work well as an upgraded Plex server for 1080 streaming??I currently use a 2011 Dell with an i3 processor and I get 3-4 streams perfectly fine with no issue.

Way better than the $88 j4125 clunker posted here all the time. Not great but ok at $180. It really should be cheaper. If you just want a Plex low power box I'd probably go with a modern N5105 mini PC at the same price…less power draw as well

Go on Amazon look up N5105 mini pc with typical 8gb:128gb or 16gb:256. Former is equal or even slightly cheaper than this deal and the latter is not much more maybe $40. It's not rocket science. They're all the same.
