I'll have to look again, but they may have said "domestic", and actually did not say international

Glad my deal alert notification went off! I've been keep an eye out for new luggage. The Platinum Elite seems to get rave reviews across multiple sites and this discount makes it a great deal.

I placed an order for Elite spinner in 22" and 25" sizes. I had to place a second order since I realized I didn't like the color I initially selected (I had Night mode/blue light filtering enabled so the colors were off when I first looked). One thing to note, if you want to cancel or change an existing order, per their website FAQ [travelpro.com], changes must be made within 30 minutes of placing the order.

Also, I didn't have the Amex offer in my account, but you can checkout using Paypal, which if you have Chase Freedom gives back 5% this quarter....

Hard side or soft side? Any tips?
personally i prefer soft-sided luggage.

there are advantages/disadvantages to each type. I prefer soft-sided. in my opinion

Soft-sided:
-can deform
-easier to expand
-won't crack/break
-shows less signs of wear

Hard-sided:
-shows scratches/scuffs
-most are of a "clam shell" style. so that limits how you can pack/arrange
-possibly lighter, depending on case materials used
-more rigidity-potentially more secure if worried about something getting crushed. but then again it's still being handled by airport baggage handlers...

but really personal preference...

Does anyone know how well the wheels will take pounding? When I travel internationally, my carry on bag weighs about 40-45 pounds and I go down a lot of stairs dragging the luggage as it falls from one stair to the next, landing on the wheels, bang, bang, bang, probably 200-300 times a trip (# of steps). So I need some luggage wheels that takes a lot of abuse and am willing to pay for it. (If you are wondering why I simply dont pick it up and carry it down, I am no longer a spring chicken, so to speak.) And many hotels, subways, railroads outside the US dont have convenient elevators.
You could like use escalators or elevators...

I went with Crew™ VersaPack™ Max Carry-On Expandable Spinner (larger size carry on) for $164 (incl CA tax) before Amex $30 off $150 offer. It has great reviews on both travel pro and Amazon

Didn't need a carry-on, but needed a check-in so I picked up the TravelPro Platinum Elite Large Check-In Expandable Hardside Spinner for $259.67 + tax. Unfortunately, didn't have the Amex offer on my card but went with Paypal 5% via Chase Freedom. Thanks OP!

You need to check limits for each airline and not rely on manufacturer data as it might be outdated/deceptive.

i'd recommend never buying travel pro.

i did the 100 day trial. sent it back via fedex for a refund. fedex dropped the ball (tracking number shows it stopped at a city and was never delivered), but travel pro didn't do anything about it. they kept my money.

it took MONTHS of emailing back and forth. they even at one point said "congrats, we found your unit, we will refund you soon". months later, they never sent it. i tried emailing them again, and they said "we never got your unit, so please wait until we get it".

i had to do a chargeback and finally got my money.

i wrote an honest review of the product on their website, but unsurprisingly they never published it.

Great deal!! Bought a new set of Platinum Elite for me and the wife for Christmas.

In addition to the $30 off $150 AMEX deal I had on my gold card, urlhasbeenblocked also gives you an extra 3.15% back.

Also, not sure if you can stack, but there is a $20 off code LOVEMORE that you can try...

Another advantage of the soft side Platinum Elite is the warranty: soft side is warranted for the lifetime of the registered owner. You get "only" five years with the hard side Platinum Elite.
