Home Depot has a Makita circular saw for $259 with 4 batteries, so…
Because a circular saw and chainsaw are the same?

If you try hard enough, anything is possible (-ly deadly)!

Great deal, in the market, but I want the Makita warranty. Really need the pole saw attachment for 36v power head. Never seems to go on sale..

Sorry, I was trying to explain that you can get 4 new batteries from an authorized dealer cheaper than the used/refurbished ones from Woot. This was specifically addressing the comment regarding selling the batteries and getting a piece of equipment for free.

Battery powered chainsaw?? smh
Yes, you know, like how cars are battery-powered nowadays?

Anyway, without the snark, the newer electric chainsaws are perfect for the vast majority of homeowners who aren't felling old-growth forest in their backyards but rather sawing up a few trees or branches every so often. Unless you have acres of farmland and forest, the heavy duty Stihls and equivalent are overkill, and since you can use the batteries that power other cordless tools in the same brand family, it's a nice synergy.

Just wish I could get the Milwaukee saw on sale. The lack of warranty here isn't worth taking on a new brand for one tool.

These aren't used or refurbished. The condition is listed as "new". This is a "Rule the outdoors" kit Makita put together two seasons ago that comes with 4 batteries in the packaging. They did the same bundles with the 36V blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and lawnmowers that were on the market at that time. If anything this is old stock they want to move. Makita has industry best batteries, I wouldn't worry. I have thousands of dollars in Makita tools and use them daily. I've never had to warranty a thing.

Anyone know of a good tool-only deal? I have enough Makita batteries.

Really depends on the use case. For me a battery powered chainsaw would be great because I would use it for maybe 20 min to an 1 hour a year to trim the trees and cut up the broken branches from winter on my mom's house with 2 acres that I take care of. That said I wouldn't buy a battery string trimmer for that same property because I run that for hours at a time when using it and I would be going through batteries like no other. But I do have a battery string trimmer for my house because I have 3 things to trim and thats it.

The nice thing about this one is that you can use the batteries in your tools as well. Where some of the other brands use different batteries between their hand tools and yard tools.

I don't have a much use for it at the moment, but after selling the batteries and the charger and 5% CB, it'll be less than $100 for the chainsaw itself. Tempted!

I have 4 gas saws. And they are either at my farm, or our cabin. This I can just keep in the back of my truck, or in my garage at the house.

And not have to worry about it. Plus this would be great to take on trail rides where you may encounter a down tree and don't want to take a 30lb gas chainsaw that's 30" long.

IIRC, Makita warranty date is based on your receipt or the production date, which is embedded in the tool's SN. If you don't have a receipt, production date is the start of the warranty period.

I don't know if Makita keeps track of and effectively blacklists certain SNs, but it seems unlikely. If, in fact, these are old sets, then the production date/SN will be old, limiting the value of the warranty without a receipt from an authorized retailer.

Happened to me when I got the Milwaukee chainsaw. Finished cutting what needed to be cut and started giving the neighbor's trees the eye. I have no idea who the midnight chainsaw bandit is.
