The thing that you may not be aware of is that the device doesn't produce instant fog when you turn it on. This design of fog machines have a heating element that heats a small steel plate inside of a metal canister (usually referred to as a vaporization chamber) that has to be heated up to temperature before the glycerin solution is pumped into it to boil away all at once. This creates pressure which then propels the fog out of the chamber and out through the nozzle in front. Many fog machines of this type have temperature sensors that trigger when the device is up to temperature, which then turn on a small pump to inject the fog juice solution into the chamber automatically when the device is ready. The one that's on sale here doesn't seem to have that feature apparently? and you must wait until the fog machine is up to temperature before pushing a button that controls the PUMP to inject the fog solution into the heating element to make the fog. If you push the button too often it floods the vaporization chamber before it's up to temperature. Then you'll only get anemic little sputters of fog from the nozzle until it eventually all boils away again. (Which can take hours)

Connecting this device to a Wi-Fi switch will only ensure that you have to wait for the heating element to heat up again every time you turn it back on. You'll still have to manually push the button if you ever want to actually operate the device.

šŸ‘ On a side note, I do think it's a very good idea to connect these devices to a Wi-Fi shut off so that you can disable them quickly if you need to, regardless of how they operate.

A 400 watt element doesn't produce a lot of heat, and while I'm sure that the thermal mass in the vaporization chamber is smaller to compensate, I doubt that this little machine can produce much fog over any significant time frame.
I would recommend a 1000 watt fog machine at minimum (on its own dedicated circuit) if you're going to be doing any kind of fog outdoors.

Good luck šŸ’ØšŸ‘šŸŽƒšŸ‘»šŸ’€

Make your own! 1 part Vegetable Glycerin https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...UTF8&psc=1
and 3 parts Distilled water. Get a couple gallons. With that and the glycerin, you'll have hours and hours of solution. Much cheaper than the premade stuff, Here's a quick tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEffisT_1YU

I plan on plugging into a cheap wemo smart switch so I can turn on/off with apps, as that will have more range than the included remote. At this price I got two in case there are issues for next year. Best price I've seen for this!
I have this thing in my cart waiting for the price lowered (it was $2x yesterday).
However, I don't think it will do what you want. Reviews said it required manually pushing button (remote or on the machine) to release fog and it's like 30s each time.

If it's set to always on, and I cut the power to the plug over Wi-Fi, ideally that will then turn the whole device on and off. I do this with a bunch of lamps and other devices in my house.

Yes it's dropped a lot as I've been watching it a few weeks. Will arrive just in time for our Halloween garage party with the kiddos. I might set up both on each side.

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting. My only concern with the Vegetable Glycerin that you suggested is that it is coconut scented. Is this one [amazon.com]potentially better?

2 years ago Wife bought a black plastic gutter drain (the accordion style that collapses) from HD and uses frozen 16.9oz water bottles in it to produce more fog from the machine. Saw it on Tik Tok or something.

Wait how big is the tank? Does it mean you have to put in fog juice every 10 mins?

I have this. Bought it a few years ago. It's a cool machine and works really well, but the fact that it's completely manual will probably be a deal breaker for most. If we're home and handing out candy outside, it's not a big deal, but if you want to go out trick or treating with your kids, the fog machine won't do anything. Currently looking to upgrade now to an automatic machine.

If you're in the midwest, Menards sells a similar budget fogger for $40 that does include the timer switch, https://www.menards.com/main/holiday-decorations/halloween/halloween-animated-decorations/pumpkin-ho... [menards.com] Their shipping and handling prices are terrible so it's probably not worth it unless you have a store nearby. I bought one to go with the dragon decoration they sell, and it probably works as well as any 400 watt fogger.
