Please be careful about when it says Rent Payments. Only specific rental companies are covered in it.Triple Check with your rental company if they accept it.
WellsFargo distributes this credit card and I got .99 cent fraud charges just last week. I think WellsFargo or the distributor for Bilt card is hacked. I had to get a replacement number a few days ago and was on hold for 2 hours for the fraud department. Check Reddit posts for the same fraud charges. WF is not worth the hack experience!
I have been trying it since 3/2022.
I keep getting the points but 100 points is no longer equal to 1$. They are around 50c.
Just wanted to let you guys know that as well.
I just went through this process, and this will not affect your rent payments if you set up the ACH transfer using the dummy routing/checking numbers, since these numbers don't change even when your account number is changed after a fraud alert. The time between reporting the fraud and getting/activating the new card is tricky though because any transactions will not go through, so if your rent payment falls within that time period, best bet is to find another way to pay rent for that month.
Thanks for sharing your experience. That helps alleviate some concerns.
If they give an ACH/routing # isn't it on your management company to initiate the debit on a date they desire?
I have a option to pay onetime or additional payments as needed in addition to autopay setting (rent payment site from my rental company), so probably there are options to do so. I did tried test payment like $50 to make sure the setup works and don't get penalty.
"Friendly reminder, you need to use your card 5 times within each statement period in order to keep the points you've been earning this month.
Your statement period ends in 7 days, so you still have a little time to use your card and keep those points.
Remember: with the Bilt Mastercard you earn 1x points on every dollar of rent, 2x points on travel, and 3x points on dining. Plus, gain higher status in the Bilt Rewards Program by continuing to earn points."
i use this. building up a bunch of points that can be used on amazon so it's better than nothing. you have to make 5 small charges a month to keep it going....
What can u redeem if u have 20k points? Only on Amazon?
So you need to make 5 purchases every month to qualify for points?
Is the rental points are promotional and will disappear after a while?
How to get the checks to make rental payments?
You can use the Bilt Mastercard and earn rewards on rent at any property where you can pay by (i) online payment portal (e.g. ClickPay®, etc.), (ii) Venmo or Paypal or (iii) physical check.
How to do the physical check - they will give one?
I think if anything, they'd probably rather have it be recatagorized as a cash advance on the credit card, i.e. higher interest rates.
But yeah, I love it, my rent is high since I live in a major city, so I come pretty close to that 50k max points each year, for basically doing nothing different and having one more open credit line on my account.
Overall my only gripe is how long it takes for my rent to actually appear on the credit card side:
On the 1st, I'll pay my rent via the online bill portal RentCafe, I'm happy, landlord is happy.
But it won't actually get posted on Bilt until the 6th or 7th.
They day it gets posted I then pay the Bilt CC bill, so 0 interest gets charged to me.
Used it and they sent my rent payment in late. Poor customer service
Rent checks are mailed via USPS - wild card here + late payment!
IDK
Either they give rent checks so you can eliminate USPS.
You will never have a receipt for rent checks - worries me!
it is like any other credit card, pay the balance in full and by the date and there is no interest. otherwise, like pretty much everything else in the world, there is interest.
