Don't buy any FIFA game period.
I've been discussing this with various people and pretty much telling everyone I know. The deals this holiday season are going to be insane compared to last year. Last year was still very much a consumer year, this year with rising prices of essential stuff retailers know budget is tighter. Combine that with an insane overflow of merchandise on shelves and in the back room because of cargo ships finally getting unloaded. You have the perfect combination of elements to create an insane amount of deals. There's a reason Amazon had early prime days access and Best Buy is currently having a Black Friday deal as is target and Walmart. They have way too much non-essential inventory and lower demand. The result? DEALS DEALS DEALS!
Many more people will be looking for deals during Black Friday. I'd rather have a deal like this now and beat the crowds and avoid out of stock issues.

I agree with your overall conclusion, except that it sounds like demand remains steady. The difference is that more goods are moving more freely now, so there is definitely going to be a glut of stuff.

Anyway, for $30 I'll probably bite. Will tide me over until March!

The question then becomes, will prices drop even further on BF? FOMO people like me are having a fit, buy now or buy later?

Honestly you shouldn't worry too much about that, with price protection most major retailers offer like Best Buy, target, and Walmart. They can often lower the price if they sell it for cheaper. If you're buying gifts now, and it drops lower Black Friday you should be able to price adjust after purchase. Worst case scenario, you price adjust or heck return the item after you've purchased a cheaper version or best case scenario you get that early Christmas shopping out of the way. Realistically most people on here are doing gift shopping already, and would more than likely have a majority of presents finished by a month from now.

Controls are clunky, button controls (I'm on a pro controller) are generally better until you need a particular directional sword cut for fights and the joystick doesn't do that very well. (oh and the game is so very fond of these). And THEN you realize that the joycons aren't picking up your 'jab' properly and you have to switch controls again for that bit. Switching is easier if you are playing docked/detached mode with both joycon/pro controller on hand.

But that said, really lovely story and characters. IMO worth it at this price (if you have the option of switching controllers easily)

In my opinion (that many others share) skyward sword isn't worth it at any price unfortunately. The controls are so bad are cannot be improved in any meaningful way. One of the few Zelda games I haven't finished sadly.
As a counterpoint, I think it's a fantastic game worth full price. Granted, I've only played the original Wii version. Best dungeons and soundtrack in the entire series, and the story ranks near the top as well.
