My wife is currently on a maternity break and plans to start a freelance designer gig work around June. Is it possible to get approved before you actually start the "business"?
If using sole proprietorship using ssn, sure.
If using business info, you would need the proper documentation.
I was just going to apply when I saw in the T's and C's that this card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee. No problem with the 3 mos/$6k spending, but this would not work for me because I do a lot of foreign transactions every month.

This is a free card and all Chase free cards charge foreign transaction fee. Capital One cards do not, but they don't have big sign up bonus. If you spend $39k a year, then it makes sense to get the $195 Chase Ink Premier. $1k sign up bonus. 2.5% for purchase $5k or more and 2% for all others. No foreign transaction fee.
How does this work?
When I search google chase credit card and refer a friend and fill the form with last name, zip and last 4 digit of ssn it says

Only current Chase business card owners can make Chase business card referral. Consumer card owners cannot refer business cards. They get $400 and you get a lowered $750. Ask them to give you $150 back so your share does not change.

Thanks. I decided to apply for this card anyway and was approved within hours. We also have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, so we will just divvy up as Ink Unlimited = Domestic spend, Sapphire Reserve = International spend.
Noob question. Regarding the 6k purchase required in the first 3 months for the points, is it just total purchases in the first 3 months or do you have to make payment on the 6k purchase within 3 months?

You have to spend $6,000 in total purchases in the first three months, but you're going to start getting bills to pay after the first billing cycle. You're going to have to pay at least the minimum balance like you would for any credit card. If you're planning on keeping a balance you should factor that into your equation of how much the bonus is worth. It's not advised to sign up for a bonus offer if you can't meet the spend requirement without going over what you would spend anyways, or if you have that money in cash and can pay it off right away.

Something interesting I just found out. I was approved for a $6000 limit back in September. Today I checked and they automatically upped my limit to $11,000. I didn't even request it. I already got my $900 rewards back, but I did charge another 3k on something else, which had taken my utilization to 50%. Wonder if they automatically increase to avoid you getting a ding on your credit?

Isn't this a 0% APR card (for 12 months)?
