Thinking of porting one of my software products to Mac like I did with Linux. It's just a command line tool written in C++.
Any Mac developers out there? How is this for compiling a command line tool like one might do on Linux? I'm not developing the tool on it, just compiling/porting it to Mac.

I love developing software on the M1 tons of power under the hood, however I'd recommend 16gb of ram if it's a daily driver PC.

Yeah, wouldn't mind the 16GB but it would definitely not be my daily driver... I may see what deals come on Black Friday and Cyber Monday (this deal not getting a lot of up votes so I guess better ones will come)... I'm in no rush but it would be nice to port my command line utility to Mac.
I need to replace my 2012 mac mini which I use as a Plex server. It's currently connected to. WD 12tb hd and directly to Ethernet port. Just wondering if the M1 would give me issues, and if this is overkill?

Retiring your 2012 max mini? I ended up installing Open Core and latest Monterey (will wait another couple releases before trying Ventura): https://dortania.github.io/OpenCo...all-Guide/
Brought it back to life for all basic purposes.

For what it's worth, I also have a 2012 mac mini running my Channels DVR. It's acting up and needs restarts every week or so. The channels team has stated the M1 Mac mini is the best Channels DVR box given the low power consumption. I was waiting for an M2 mac mini but with the talk it isn't coming until 2023 now I'm hesitant to jump on the M1 now even at that discounted price. Hope that helps!

How is Channels DVR compared to Plex TV? I hate Plex TV for the most part.
