Yes, apply as a sole proprietor with your social security number instead of an EIN and your business name the exact same as your own legal name. Zero employees. Business income can be listed as little as $1,000 (resale, babysitting whatever it is you do)

Most Ink card require a recon call or get a pop-up saying you will hear about a decision later. About 90% of people get that. Also, most get a low limit ($3-4K)

Remember the $900 comes back as points, not cash (but can be converted to cash).
Got this card mid October for the regular $750/7500 promotion. Called in today to see if I could get the $900/6000 promotion and they did it no problem, just have to have reached the 6000 threshold when calling. In case anyone is in the same situation as I was 👍🏻
No, they most certainly don't, and no, it's not income

I've got 7 figures of Chase UR points and 0 1099s.

It's not income.

The IRS agrees it's not income.

If you have to spend anything to get it, it's a REBATE, not income. Not taxable, No 1099.

Here's a bunch of sources all telling you you're wrong

https://www.cnbc.com/select/are-c...%2Dtaxable.

https://www.cnet.com/personal-fin...s-taxable/

https://calibrecpa.com/tax-regula...k-rewards/

I could list 20 more- they'd all say the same.

The only time you get a 1099 from Chase (or any bank) for CREDIT CARD BONUSES is if it's a non spending bonus

Like a referral.

And ONLY if those add up to more than $600 in a year.

NOT for signup bonuses which require spend. Which, again, are not taxable and no 1099 is issued

Also taxable would be things like offering you $ or points for opening a checking or savings account--- because you don't need to SPEND anything. So if that added up to more than $600 you'd get a 1099.

But credit card spend required signups? Not income. No 1099.

I just cancelled my Chase Ink Cash card last week. It's been about 6 years since I got the bonus on the card. Since I just cancelled it last week am I good to re-apply for the same card or do I have to wait a certain amount of time?
yes, you are good. You didn't even really have to cancel the previous card first.

I would apply about three months after canceling the same card so there was no trace left for that card that you are reapplying.

These two responses that I got are exact opposites, which is correct?

There are a massive amount of data points from forums where people that actually know about credit cards congregate that show that one can hold multiple Ink cards, even multiples of the same Ink (which I have done, albeit a couple years ago). If you want to be unnecessarily safe, you could apply for the Ink Unlimited with the same bonus, but that isn't really necessary.

I don't know where or how the other person came up with 'three months'. Even for cards that Chase makes you downgrade or cancel before reapplying for, that has never been a relevant timeframe (for those cards, the safe rule of thumb is to wait 4 days after downgrade, or up to 30 days after canceling).

Approved but limit is only 3k. Is there a way to increase the limit or move some from personal card? Does anyone try that yet?

any ideas on how to churn the $6k?
Dont have any such large purchases coming up in the near future, so just trying to figure out what would be the best way to spend the money without really spending it lol

Paypal is one way, but it comes at a $217 cost to do so, which would essentially eat out of the $900 cash back that you'd get from this card, which in turn make is a worser deal that it actually is...

Any ideas?
Careful about paying property tax w/CC. My jurisdiction charges a fee for that.
Pay ahead your car and home insurance, and any other insurance you might have. Since I often travel for 2+ months at a time I pay many bills 3 months ahead, from dental insurance to telephone. No company ever complained about that.
Heat with oil? Ask your supplier to charge you $500 in advance.
Ask your car mechanic if s/he would take advanced payment for an upcoming service.

Might help if you told us what the materials were, or where you purchased them.

Well with that much spend first thing you'd wanna do is churn through a few dozen signup bonuses, which can typically get you ballpark 10% of your spend back in value (or a lot more if you were using for travel rather than cash back)

For "routine" spending after that your big problem is most cards that'll beat the 2% charge to use a card will have hard caps on spending that will be vastly lower than what you need.

Some exceptions:

BoA unlimited cash rewards, assuming you have or can get plat honors status, will get you 2.625% cash back on everything, with no spend limit

If you were interested in travel rewards you'd want to look at stuff like the Ink/Freedom Unlimited cards (where you can get on the low end the cash equivalent of 2.25% but potentially several times more than that- but only when using for travel).... and no spend cap there either.

The Amex BBP earning 2x MR would also be an option, but 50k/yr spend cap there.

Mine was pending. Immediately called recon line and was approved. They didn't ask for any other info. Just stated she did a review and submitted for decision. Only 5K limit compared to 24K on previous Sapphire that I just cancelled.

These business cards are pretty much always going to have a lower spending limit than a personal card like a CSR or CSP. Honestly, $5K is high. Mine was $3K
