I have this doorbell and the false alarms are driving me crazy. Every time a car passes an alert is activated, recorded and the battery drains quickly. (Had to replace the 2 AA lithium batteries in 2 months)

It doesn't matter if I constrain the active event zones to just a few squares/areas in front of the doorbell, lower the sensitivity settings ECT; if a car drives within 35 feet it will be detected every time.

I'm thinking that it's the reflection of the cars causing the false motion alerts. Perhaps installing the horizontal wedge that comes with the doorbell will mitigate the problem as that will situate the camera's sensor at an angle and not have the camera pointing directly ahead?

With that being said, I'm still tempted to purchase another for the back door which won't have cars passing in front of it so false alarms shouldn't be a problem. If you already have a Sync Module 2, adding an additional doorbell is a breeze.

Overall IMO, Blink cameras/doorbells work best in low traffic areas where normal wired security cams would be difficult to install. They can be very useful as a supplement to traditionally wired security systems but I wouldn't recommend using Blink products exclusively for your security needs...

I don't have that issue. The wedge might work

The doorbell and sync module [amazon.com] is also on sale for $55. If you need a wedge mount, those are another $8.

The doorbell + sync module is the cheapest ever.

That's not to say it's not spam. Smilie

That's the set I bought for $45 during a lightning deal on 6/30/2022 and it came with a horizontal wedge.

I have yet to install the wedge but given the constant and annoying car motion detection alerts which are draining the battery I'm probably going to install the wedge soon to see if it helps.

There's nothing I can do software wise to resolve the car detection issue it seems at least. My front door bell is about 35 feet away from the street and I have sensitivity set to 3 and only 2 active detection zones/squares active where my front walkway is and yet every passing car will be detected as motion detection day or night. It must be the reflections of the passing cars I'm inferring…

I don't know much about this specific doorbell but generally you will have more detection options with a wired doorbell. Battery doorbells usually use IR detection which is not very accurate, whereas wired doorbells have the power to perform ongoing video analysis and allow the use of detection zones and object identification. That's how it is with the Ring doorbells anyway.

I am using the wedge in the installation. I don't have any false alarm issue even it is pointing at my garage door.

I recently moved to a new apartment and this is the first video doorbell I ever owned. I bought the doorbell + Sync Module as I don't want to pay additional for the subscription and I also had the Blink mini that I wanted to utilize which I received with my Show 8 during the prime day sale in July.
The price wise it is good, but the load time on the app is slow. If you are viewing a live view, it won't record but you get the option to manually save the footage during live view. Also, I get false motion detection notifications. I have reviewed those videos and not even a shadow is moving or any bugs flying.

I am thinking to replace it with Eufy dual cam and Homebase if I get a good deal around Black Friday. Until then, I will keep using Blink and see if I find more issues with it.

Just got around to installing the wedge 2 days ago and it has helped mitigate but not resolve the car detection issue.

Without the wedge, passing car detection was 100%; with the wedge installed it is down to about 40%. (Outer street lane traffic is no longer detected while the inner lane closest to my house will still detect cars most of the time)

I have ridiculously low detection zone and sensitivity settings too; just one measly active square in front of my front stairs (8% active/blue, 92% inactive/gray) and set sensitivity at 2.

Just recently had to replace the lithium AA batteries again due to constant passing street car detection as well; that makes 2 AA lithium batteries used every 2 months which can get expensive.

I guess the next step is contacting Blink and requesting a replacement since perhaps my doorbell is defective. I doubt that's the issue though and I suspect a possible future firmware update/fix is needed to resolve the issue as I have heard several people complain about the same problem online...
