Always remember to test the stud finder on yourself first to make sure it works.

Boop… boop… beeeeeep. Yep. Found the stud. Works.

I bought a zircon stud finder years ago and it was total crap. False readings all the time. Returned it to HD. Maybe they improved over the years but I doubt it. Then bought a Franklin finder at Costco and it works great. Just my experience.

Different shapes and colors to be sold at different stores, functionality is identical.

I second that… recently tried one of the premium version of Zircon and it's junk
I have a premium one and can confirm that it's crap. I was looking at getting a new one and received the Zircon as a Christmas gift. I tried to use it the other day, but I'm better at knocking on the wall to find the stud than using the Zircon to do it.

Sounds like I need to try Franklin.

This is an under appreciated comment. Project Farm is the best.

Does anyone have any real world experience with these? Do they work??
I have not used this one, I've owned a different Zircon and another major brand I can't recall at the moment. If I need a stud finder for home projects, my go-to now is the C.H. Hanson magnetic stud finder. Around $10, no batteries, drop-proof, faster and more reliable than any electronic finder I've had.

You should learn how to use a stud finder instead of learning a million different ways of finding a stud lol.
He is just upset that the stud finder didn't beep when he tried it on himself. lol

Love his videos and went with the Tacklife from his video. Got mine from Newegg for $17. https://www.newegg.com/p/0AF-01AW...WR7FAT4192
Did he even review the Tacklife in that video?

He does not test this stud finder in that video, it's a different model of Zircon.

Yes he talks about it starting at the 4:00 minute mark. For some reason, it's not listed under his description even though it seems to have been one of the best performing units.

After going a few rounds with various stud finders over the years (decades) I also use the CH Hanson. I've never been in a situation where I wished I had one of these electronic versions. If I need to be sure I 100% don't miss, or find dead center, I'll use tiny nails or a tiny drill bit running backwards.

I regularly do carpentry and handyman side jobs and that's all I use. The magnet holds to the outside of my pouch and it stores easily in my kit. Tried a friend's Franklin Professional and it worked well enough but it's enormous and seems like a completely unnecessary gadget. You should spend money on an inspection endoscope instead

If you're really cheap, use a magnet to find the screws/nails. They're usually in the center of the studs. Find the nails/screws, you've found the stud.
While this is true for modern construction with standard drywall and 2X4's, It rarely works for old houses or old buildings. I use a combination of a C.H. Hanson and a Franklin ProSensor T13 but still have difficulties with Lath & Plaster walls. I got the Pink version of the Franklin so no one (guys) will want to steal it...

The horizontal stud finder by ryobi? I find it so unreliable that I use mangets instead
There's a new one that is vertical.

Must be a new model. Great reviews.

Unless your home was built by a shite builder and you don't even trust that there's a stud where there's supposed to be one and your walls are crooked.

Lol. Nothing is perfect. A magnet probably works for the vast majority of cases. My suggestion was for "really cheap" ppl 😂
