Always remember to test the stud finder on yourself first to make sure it works.

Boop… boop… beeeeeep. Yep. Found the stud. Works.

I bought a zircon stud finder years ago and it was total crap. False readings all the time. Returned it to HD. Maybe they improved over the years but I doubt it. Then bought a Franklin finder at Costco and it works great. Just my experience.

Different shapes and colors to be sold at different stores, functionality is identical.

Thanks op. I love timely SD posts. I needed a stud finder for project and found this while looking. Plus i need another level since one of mine has a bubble that must've evaporated or leaked.

If you're really cheap, use a magnet to find the screws/nails. They're usually in the center of the studs. Find the nails/screws, you've found the stud.

I agree the Franklin is good for wood construction but not good compared to a stanley for metal studs. My stanley is pretty old I like to have two devices.

Anyone know the difference between the W4 and K4?
I think the K4 has a rubberized outer case for better grip.

The horizontal stud finder by ryobi? I find it so unreliable that I use mangets instead

Highly recommend a Franklin Sensors stud finder.
I second that… recently tried one of the premium version of Zircon and it's junk

People overpaying for this… you can find your stud half the time with nothing but a string magnet or just looking for an outlet or a million other ways that don't need this half assed technology.

I call it "half-assed" because it only works half the time….

Save yourself the hassle and learn about your home

You should learn how to use a stud finder instead of learning a million different ways of finding a stud lol.

Yeah those are the best, especially that little pencil stored away in it as well! Can't tell you how many times I found that handy!

I have no idea when I will need to level out a torpedo, but for this price it would be dumb not to buy one
