I was worried too, but my LG CX is about 2 years old now and about 2000 hours, used exclusively for gaming, no burn in at all.
Their verdict:
"The Samsung QN90B QLED is better overall than the Sony X90K. The Samsung gets brighter and has a better local dimming feature, so it displays deeper blacks with real content, meaning it's a better choice for well-lit and dark rooms. If you're also a gamer, the Samsung TV has a few more features like FreeSync VRR support. Lastly, the Samsung is better to use in a wide seating area because it has a wider viewing angle that makes the image remain consistent from the sides."

For instance, I bought some Vizio P Quantum $1k tv a few years ago that had a great picture when it worked. The local dimming wasn't amazing with so few zones, but the contrast, colors, HDR, etc all looked great. But there was strange audio cutout randomly (while streaming though built-in apps and with device input). The TV would freeze frequently. One time the picture just went black and wouldn't come back until unplugging/replugging in. There was also about 3-4 times that the TV just didn't turn on. All of this was withing 3-4 weeks of owning the TV. I did my own digging online and found that many others had the same issues/defects out of the box. As if anyone who purchased it would have seen at least some of the issues. Yet, RTings had this thing as one of the top rated TV's on their site that year, with glowing review/recommendation. Not one mention of any issues.
I quickly sought resolution with Vizio, and when they couldn't solve it I just returned to Costco (thank goodness for them).
And after trying to use their recommendation again, I had similar things show up immediately with those other TVs.
I would have chalked it up to bad luck and that maybe RTings just didn't see the problems, but given the prevalence of them I find it hard to believe, so I do not rely on them in the same way anymore.
So to say that OLEDs are fine these days because RTings reviews them all very highly is not a convincing statement. Sure, when they work, OLEDs will outperform LED TV's in many categories. But RTings isn't looking at the full picture most of the time, or chooses to minimize or outright leave out any commentary on performance issues/defects, including burn-in.
I believe there was also a recent news article where LG had reported losses due to their OLED business being below expectations/not performing, which to me is a sign that OLED's issues may not be solved/reduced to the point that they replace LEDs.
Just some things to think about
i'd consider yea, basically they do minor improvements every year with their line
but generally speaking this tv rarely goes below 1000 dollars on sale if ever... closest way is through cashback/other similar promos
