Thanks OP. I just ordered one from Best Buy. This checks a lot of boxes I want for my setup.

Anyone have thoughts between this and the Alienware 34" OLED monitor?

Short answer is the Alienware is more geared toward gaming while this LG is primarily an office monitor with some nice gaming features (like 144hz and FreeSync/G-Sync). For me, even if the price were the same, I'd pick this monitor for the slightly wider aspect ratio (replaces two actual 27inch QHD), USB-C w/ Power Delivery, and KVM features. I plan to do mostly work on it, with maybe a few minutes of Rocket league if the 4 kids ever leave me the hell alone.

I think this is a good deal.

I noticed there are two USB-A ports on the right side of the monitor. Do we have to use a second cable (aside from the USB-C cable) to connect the laptop/PC to the center USB-upstream, in order to use these two USB-A ports? If yes, it is awkward.

Comparing to SAMSUNG S95UA, which has two USB-C and three USB-A and does not need a USB-upstream connection(?), this LG looks weird in connectivity.
I could be wrong (and I might return it if I am), but I think the way it works: One machine is hooked up via the single USB C cable, and another machine is hooked up via Display Port and the USB A upstream. The built in KVM will let you switch between these and they can share the same keyboard/mouse via the two side USB-A Downstream ports. If you're just using a single laptop, then Yes, I think you can just hook up with the single USB C cable.

for non-gaming, i would perfer 2 4k curve, 1440p is not as good.

What do you mean by effectively 27 1440?
This monitor is comparable to two 27-in monitors side by side, each with a horizontal resolution of 1440p. Your current setup is dual 32-in monitors with a horizontal resolution of 2160p, which except for the fact that they are two separate displays and not curved, might be considered better.

The main reason I'm asking is because I am torn between keeping two 32 inch monitors at 1440p vs this. I'm leaning toward the 32 in, and I'm surprised to hear that you'd rather have this over two 4K displays.

Yeah.. I know that.. I'm gonna lose vertical spaces, which is why I'm hesitant. I do photo and video editing, so the extra height can make difference, especially in LightRoom. But I also do heavy Excel work for work, so long width can be useful.. but as of now, dual 4k 32 is the way to go.

Right, so why are you considering this over what you currently have?

EDIT: NM, saw you added the bit about Excel.

That makes sense, though I cannot find any details in the user manual.

Then how do you think the SAMSUNG S95UA (which has two USB-C ports) would connect two computers for KVM? one is through a single USB-C, the other is through a USB-C and displayport?

I'm so tempted to get the ultra wide.. I'm currently using 2x 32inch 4k (3840x2160) and a FHD 24.. only thing that hesitates me is the 1440 height.
I am the same way I rather watch movies and content on a 4k monitor then a half ripped off widescreen. I don't mind the slim bezel frame of having two monitors

It's not too bad. It's like putting two 27" monitors side by side. Going from 32" to this takes a little getting used to though.
There are apps that allow these type of monitors to be used as 3 screens. It's really cool. My friend has a G9 and on an arm, it's a pretty sweet setup.

So looking at the Amazon Basics wall mounts as a basis, would the "22-55 inch"/80lb mount work for this? Or would it need to step up to the "32-86 inch"/130lb mount?

(And yes I know it's 49 inches and 33lb and therefore technically "within spec" for the more basic mount, but that doesn't necessarily reflect actual experience. A monitor this wide and curved will probably put more stress on the mount than a 16:9 TV, and also maybe be more sensitive to instability.)

I have the 38" version of LG ultrawide - and i think its this model - I am hesitant with 49" as i feel like it will just strain my head/neck
Lot of neck injuries and problems, it's a legit issue.

If you're a member of the military this is available at shopmyexchange - you can have them price match it to this and won't pay tax.
