It's true, and not just limited to 3rd party sellers. Amazon co-mingles it's inventory from 3rd party sellers to even "sold and shipped from Amazon.com" is not safe. You have to 1) be prepared for the headache of getting a counterfeit SD card/returns and 2) be willing to run tests yourself (h2testw and Samsung Authenticator) to make sure you get a genuine product.

Just use the Samsung Authentication Utility to confirm it is a genuine product. Look at the bottom of the page for "Samsung Memory Card & UFD Authentication Utility (4)".

I have heard a lot of rumors concerning fakes with any kind of storage from Amazon. I have bought several microSD cards and several SSDs, but I have never received a fake. Neither have I ever actually spoken to anyone with 1st hand experience receiving fakes from Amazon. Does it happen? Sure, but the comments always make it sound like every product shipped from Amazon is a fake. I have a hard time believing it is that rampant.

I have been using the U1 version of Samsung pro endurance for almost 6 months in my dashcam with front 4K and back 1080P. No problem so far. This is U3. Better than U1. Would recommend to anyone those looking for dashcams.
