Which states the same as the OP, but also gives an expiry date of Jan 1 2023.

Once you get shop card, immediately log back in and turn OFF auto renew. That flags system to send you out marketing communication (normally on monthly flyer) to renew with $20 off for 2024 via in store.

I never really thought this was going to work. My guess is that $45 card was only for the Elite membership or whatever it was. Canceling my membership.
