If you're getting your hopes up about this, and thinking you'll be "the exception" to all the negative experiences...prepare to be disappointed. Read the previous thread about last week's Walmart + promo. There are 10+ pages of complaints. Walmart didn't even have the "Buy" button at noon, it was immediately replaced with OOS. I repeatedly refreshed the page from 11:40 - 12:30 and it was constantly OOS.

Walmart isn't trying to sell TV's, they're selling W+ memberships. I was gullible too, and paid for the membership, and thought I'd get a TV...at 12 noon, in the middle of the day, when MILLIONS of people were watching this highly promoted sale. Nope. Instead, I got the 55" from another SD post for Target for $199 on Sat night at 2am. Already have the TV in hand. That thread is full of positive experiences.

Granted, one guy said he went into the physical Walmart, and at noon they price matched the TV with the online price, and he walked out with it. Might be the way to go. Otherwise, don't get your hopes up. Another "deal" at noon that sounds "too good to be true".... Fool me once... Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

I bought one of these 3 years ago when it sold for $300. Still going strong.

If they keep it OOS, like it currently is, until noon on the 7th, there's a better chance of getting one. The Hisense deal last month didn't start until 12 noon, but Walmart let those that bought earlier at a higher price get adjustments.

I'm in love with TLC, probably the best budget TV brand. I have bought TLC since they started out and out of 6-7 tvs none have gone bad on me. Also isn't the Target one Elements? which TLC is way better compared to I would say.
The channel, Tender loving care, or both?

From a commenter who did a little research on the 58" Element Target deal for $199...it appears Element and Onn are the same. Some review sites are saying these are "lower tier" tv's and TLC is a step or two above, however, the variables they are comparing are mostly bells and whistles features I think few care about. The only things I care about is resonable picture quality (sharpness/brighness) and longevity. Should I keep my 58" Element Target deal in the box (to return later) and try or this Walmart 55 TLC or perhaps a Hisence that will likely come along in the next month? I have a Roku 55 Hisense I'm happy with...just concerned about the Element. The bad reviews are mostly "broken upon delivery".

I bought this 2 years ago BF @ Walmart for $150. It was same Series 4 UHD HDR but specific model was 55S20.

It is my main TV and for the price you can't really do better. I exclusively watch streaming (Netflix, Prime, HBO, Plex).

There are two issues I can report:

First one is sort of minor... If you keep the TV in instant on mode (so that it takes only a few seconds to power on instead of 30 or so) you need to occasionally go I to the power menu and do a full reboot. The software gets bogged down and starts to get unresponsive. Sometimes it goes months without needing this, occasionally it has to be done a couple times a week. It's possible a specific channel or updates cause the problem, but when it needs them frequently it's a bit of an annoyance.

The HDR is total crud. I'm no TV snob (as is clear since this is my main TV). Anyone who is claiming the HDR on this TV is decent has no idea or is blinder then myself.

When HDR mode is enabled you can't control brightness, as HDR will control it. Unfortunately, you also can't disable HDR. So if you have a streaming service that supports HDR (say Netflix, or you have an HDR movie on Plex), it will stream HDR. You can tell because HDR is displayed in the top right for a few seconds when it starts.

Even the secret Roku menus don't have an option to turn off HDR, so you don't have the option of streaming the non HDR version. This means that HDR content is going to be so dark as to be almost unwatchable in many shows.

I confirmed there was no fix with TCL support. They claim that you can disable it for the HDMI in ports, but not for the built in streaming services. Of course.Im not about to buy another Roku to hook up when this has it built in. But, if you use a Chromecast device or game system this might not be an issue as you can reportedly disable the HDR on the external ports.

I would have preferred to have had a 1080p at the same cost but this was actually the cheapest.

Still, I don't plan on replacing it for another year or three. Based on my experience with these TCLs it likely won't last much beyond the 3-4 year mark.

Just know what you are.paying for and if you can accept the shortcomings it's a great deal.

EDIT:. There is one other issue with this TV I wanted to bring up. It regards motion smoothing and the higher refresh rates. Specifically the "soap opera effect" which is divisive among so many.

Personally I can't abide the "realism" of the soap opera effect. Any TV which I use I need to disable all the motion smoothing options so that I can watch the media as it was produced and not how the TV thinks it should look.

This TV doesn't seem to have any options to disable motion smoothing and other effects. Luckily, the standard processing settings and the fairly low rate mean that you don't experience the SOE often or in extremes.

Again, I am extremely adverse and sensitive to the effect and there are usually only rare moments, in a specific scene where I notice it. It bothers me most because I know the TV won't allow me to disable it more than the actual effect.

I wanted to point this out because this might be a deal breaker for some, but again coming from someone that can't stand it, I find the effect occasionally there but so minimal that it hasn't really ruined my enjoyment or taken me out of a show for more than a split second once every few weeks.

FYI...Deal starts @ 12 noon (Nov. 7) for Walmart+ Members and @ 7pm for non-members. Come the 7th, it's gonna end up being another BS Deal like the Hisense 58" $198 Deal last month.

Every year walmart has this deal prices fluctuate but for the past 5 years at-least 150-200$ ish tcl 55" tv but if it sells out before nov 7 it will come back before Christmas! Normally for the past 7-8 years I buy 20-30 black fri tvs and resell them . This year I'm hesitant to say the least . There are so many great deals and deals starting early and made more public than ever I'm scared to buy ! I shouldnt even mention part of the reason tv manufacturers lowered the cost even break even on manufacturing bc they sell your info and make more from info than selling the product ! I'm tempted too jump on this deal from habit at the same time I don't think I will . Game stop had a deal last year I missed with a purchase of a tv get a visa E gift card buy 3 tvs get one free long story short if you miss this one there will be another great deal . Any resellers food for thoughts appreciated! I know my grammar is not correct, I don't need a correction . If you got this far you got it with out a spelling check.

Which tv is better? The target Emerson tv for 200 or this one??? I have the target tv on hold for pickup.
From our experience. My dad had one and it lasted under a year. For TCL. My gfs aunt has a few that last. But it is a gamble. Reviews are kinda bad for them too

Can someone tell me if I have this Roku tv AND cable, do I have to use separate remotes? Or can I just use my cable remote. (not ready to cut the cord yet) Not sure how this works with cable.
I have the 43 inch and comcast you need two remotes if you use Ruko but it is very easy to go between both and you can program the comcast x1 box as the start up when you use just the comcast remote so very user friendly caution get a TCL soundbar that support ARC and Ruko it is seemless

In the setting you can set the tv to turn on to a selected input. If you can pair your cable remote you would only need that for basic cable watching. Just use the tv remote to access the roku apps when you want to.
