The 38" is in a different league over the 34". I had a number of 34" AW's over the years and for the past 2 I've had the Alienware 38". I even mounted the new LG 42" OLED on the wall and wound up returning it and sticking with the 38".

Got the aorus fo48u for $870 with tax and shipping. Got another $200 back with rebate. $670 final price. Oled, 4k, 120hz and freesync. Doesn't get better for the $.

I just use 4k at 21:9 and I use it for fps games. At worst I have a 48in 4k oled for under $700

For those wanting a brand new, 160Hz 1 year newer model that's only 34"...

How do y'all think this compares to the 49" LG monitor that's on sale for $1000?

Looks like a great deal if it's delivered in good shape. I've always wanted to try one of these monitors but didn't want to pay the cost. I'll update when mine arrives.

Mixed this model up with another, apologies to all - leaving for posterity and the model year thing still applies.[This was on sale at Costco for $800 not very long ago and they do like running sales on LG monitors, though it looks like the actual MSRP on this has gone up quite a bit now so it may not be that low next time.] The 'N' model year monitors are also, technically, 2 year old models as they've gone through P and are on Q now (looks like they skipped O for clarity). Could be due for a refresh, though they have not been updating their ultrawide models nearly as regularly as their other lines and have been going from G-Sync Premium to compatible/AMD when they do.

Just some data points for folks to consider since I was in the market for one of these about two months ago. Ended up with the LG 40" 5K2K ultrawide since I needed the additional screen real estate more than the extra 72hz refresh rate, if I had been primarily concerned with gaming then I would have gone with this one. LG 42" C2 was also in the mix for me and again if I was only gaming it would have been a great option too, but would have needed to upgrade my GPU too and decide an ultrawide was going to be more practical going back to a single monitor setup.

The 49" are shorter and have lower vertical resolution and are MUCH wider if desk space is a concern. I like this one better personally but if I were doing split screen, the 49" would probably be an easy choice.

I feel 49 is better for productivity. Overall more space so I can have more windows open.

That's what I was trying to convey. I'd be using this for gaming and single window and prefer the shape and resolution. In an office setting, or even mixed use, the 49" is probably the way to go.

Going to drop this next to a 43" 4k and see how it looks. Hope my neck doesn't get sore!
