This made me think of the perfect business to start. An Uber service where you just pay someone to go get the product and deliver it. But that would require a large order to justify the expense. Maybe do a special Microcenter group buy for those out of town and send someone to get get everything! đź‘Ť

For those that need a decent amount of SATA ports for storage and/or optical drive(s), beware, this board only has 4 SATA ports. I was about to pull the plug, but I currently have 7 SATA devices...
Yes, I could get some new larger drives, use more M.2, etc, but that just adds to the difficulty of changing over.

I don't do any HDR. Its all 1080p BD rips typically. I was doing software encoding for the longest time, but the H265 encodes with handbrake were taking 90-120 minutes for a feature length movie. The last encode I did today took 18 minutes for Top Gun Maverick. The file was a little bigger at almost 10GB, but it is a dense movie. (the original BD rip was over 30GB).

EDIT: I can't resist a good deal. I have my reservation in for this Combo. I guess I'll be doing some drive upgrades to reduce my SATA load to 4...

Wow, this is incredible. Deal works in Denver, just "reserve" the mobo and then the chip, then navigate to the cart. Mobo is 1c. Incredible deal. I just can't justify the time it takes to rebuild and reconfigure my workstation. It's a 9900k, so I'd get a nice performance bump, but it'd take me so many hours to get all my tools and projects reconfigured and working again.

Thanks for the data! Maybe I need to try out non-HDR 1080p encodes to see if there is a difference. I do a lot of 4k crunching. Mostly to 4k, but also to 1080p, also predominantly HDR.

NVEnc is 2-3X faster....but....file sizes end up 2 - 10X larger with similar quality. Frown
With the 12700K I should get close to NVEnc speed but keep quality. That's my hope once I finally assemble anyway.


I'm also like you with upgrades...don't always need them...don't do them regularly...but when a deal presents itself...buy it and sell the last gen quick!
