I just installed my Samsung M5 32" screen (~14lbs) & a laptop vesa mount on this on a Costco Tresanti glass top and didn't have any issues.

I bought this last time it was on sale, it's been great. Very good build and if the monitor is heavy then you can adjust the tension hydraulics.

Got 2 plumbing stud plates ($7) & one 2ft 2X4 ($2) at Lowe's, had the Lowes guys cut the 2x4 into 4 6-inch blocks, sandwiched the glass top between one stud plate and 2 of the wood blocks, lined up the other stud plate at the bottom and installed the dual monitor arm using the C clamp installation method.
Refer above comment on how I installed with glass top. You should be able to make minor modifications (like 1 wood block instead of 2) based on the thickness of your wood desk and get this installed.
I have a cheap ikea desk and have been using this for years. I recently switched to their triple monitor stand still using the same desk. It did leave a little mark where it was mounted but the desk is still in perfect condition otherwise. It was holding 2 Dell 27" monitors. Specifically an S2716DG and an S2719DGF.
