That might be true but it is sold by SHENZHENAUDIO, which is an authorized Amazon seller for the product.

This DAC/headphone amp isn't necessary for most people but if you have high impedance headphones, a headphone amp might be necessary. This one isn't strictly necessary but it reviews well.

FWIW, while I have this product, I do not notice a difference in sound quality relative to the built-in DAC in my MacBook Pro. Apple usually uses high quality DACs though.

I use a Fiio K5 Pro and Philips Fidelio X2HR right now. Not an audiophile but it sounds good to me

Those are both very good. The Topping DX3 Pro+ should be a step up from the K5 Pro. Not enough to warrant an upgrade but for someone starting out, it is worth the extra price over the Fiio (assuming getting the K5 Pro for $150).

Maybe not directly comparable products but it depends on what you need. If you don't need the headphone amp and out (which this has), the SMSL might be for you.

On paper and in some objective tests the SMSL appears better (Audio Science rating 120 for the SMSL versus 117 for this Topping) but in practice it might not really matter. Both are excellent DACs. If you don't need the XLR outs or some of the other features of the SMSL, I'd go with the less expensive product though. This Topping is excellent for the money.

This is a good amp / DAC but the new SMSL C200 is the better buy. It was recently on sale for ~$180 and probably will be again soon for Xmas and BF sales.

The SU8 is only a DAC, it has no headphone out. It's got a newer DAC chip but they aren't going to sound much different.

Technically this Topping should be the best of the bunch but in real life they'll all sound about the same.
