SWA has announced that, starting in 2023, Southwest is raising the qualifying benchmark for the Companion Pass from achieving 125,000 qualifying points to 135,000 qualifying points in the same calendar year.

You can earn it through credit card spend points, but you can also earn it through other ways such as referral points for referring people to get the card and/or spending through the spending portal or spend partners. In years past, I have gotten the companion pass pretty early in the calendar year with one card's large bonus + referral points from a few people who signed up.

If you are targeting the companion pass, get the card now, but remember not to complete the full initial spend of $3,000 until late December 2022 or Jan 2023 -- and after your December billing statement closes (but still before the 3 month window from when you were approved). This is so you get the bonus in 2023. Then do other things in 2023 to get to 135,000 qualifying points, and you will have a companion pass for the rest of 2023 and all of 2024.

My wife did not get the instant approval from the online app submitted yesterday, but she got an instant email asking for verification of recent name change and recent address change. Chase wanted D/L and marriage cert uploaded to their system. I expect she will be approved pretty quickly for this offer, which will benefit us with 75k bonus points for her, plus the 20k in referral points. Can't beat that.

It's been awhile since I ordered Amex gift cards,…. Any chance anyone on here can confirm that Amex Gift cards directly from Amex are not coded as cash advance? I have ordered a $3000 card before without issue, but, I have not done that in the past 5 years. TIA

I guess I can turn off cash advance just in case…

No. The terms have changed so that you can only have one "individual" card bonus at a time....but you can stack the individual card+business card bonuses.

Yes, on the SWA website it is back to 50,000 bonus points.

Odd, though, that as of 8:55am CT, an individually generated referral link still works and shows "75,000 bonus points" (but also mentions offer ends 12/5/2022) but it still lets you click through to the fill-in application page. I've already applied, but interesting that it's lingering there.

The personal cards went down from 75,000 bonus to 50,000 bonus points.

and the business cards remain at 60,000 and 80,000 bonus, depending on the business card you choose

I opened a card last year and my 1 year comes up tomorrow. Is it worth it for me to cancel today and not get charged annual fee and be able to possibly do this deal next year or did I wait too long to cancel?
