I had these. While the price is great, these are pretty much garbage. Slow to update. Firmware update reset all of my settings. Poor handoffs between nodes.

I was disappointed as I used to be a huge fan of Netgear. When I tried to contact support, they want money just to talk to them about what the routers were doing.

They do have decent range, which is a plus. But not as good as a stronger single router. So if you're looking for mesh because of 1-2 rooms with shaky signal, try a better single router setup first. Asus lets you add and mesh with most routers, which is what I went with. Haven't had the need to add anything.

My Wifi 5 TP-Link Deco M5 still gets ~300Mb/s but honestly I don't need any faster. If it can actually get close to 1.5Gb/s looks like great value.

i mean, this is 3 pcs for a hundo, i dont think anyone can expect much from this for the price. nor would they have much room to complain after spending so little for a 3 pc setup

Are USB ports no longer a thing with these mesh systems? I use my current USB port for network storage and want to avoid having to get a NAS with a new mesh system. Lack of USB ports kinda kills it for me

i had these for a while. use case across floors depends on material and distance more than anything, but they worked well enough in my setup. i returned them because one of the satellites stopped working, but in retrospect that may have been due to an issue with my ISP (ping went to seconds, not ms) more than the router itself.
For the IDs, i'm pretty sure sure it will let you do the bands separately, i.e. 5g vs 2.4 ghz, but the goal of the mesh system is to [U]not[U] break out the individual satellites.

I also was never able to get PiHole to work with these. My fault or netgears, i don't know.

You are unable to have separate ssid for 2.4 & 5. This was my only gripe. But honestly it has grown on me. It hasn't really been a problem as I initially thought.

For $100 it is really a hard price to complain about or beat if your main goal is to expand wireless coverage throughout a larger home. I have not seen any good professional reviews on these devices but I would easily assume they are perfect for any household that has internet speeds of 500Mbps or slower as I dont think you will ever achieve any speeds above 600Mbps with this system. I think the average you will get close range within 10 feet would be around 500/550Mbps but the average at a distance around 300Mbps to a single device at a time. Also all the speeds I mentioned are from the main router device, the secondary nodes using wireless backhaul the default will probably see half those speeds.

Overall if you have 500Mbps or slower internet, or are just looking to expand coverage this might be the system for you. If you are tinker or looking for something to take advantage of your 1Gbps fiber internet this is not the system for you or even close to it.

Yes the norm is no USB ports and when there are some they do not work for network storage. The only brand that allows you do network storage in all their mesh is Asus. Then there are a few, very very few sporadic models from other brands that have the USB port, normally on the newer devices made in the last year and are expensive I cant think of one of the top of my head right now but I know I seen them. So in short 90% of all mesh will not have a USB port or support network storage.

I've seen a lot of people returning the new google routers. My thought is maybe because 6E has a shorter range, and the fact that most people only have a few 6E capable devices. From what I've seen with the eero pro 6e and google, sticking with a WiFi 6 router and not 6E is the best option for most people for the best network performance right now.

I have purchased deco X55 from Amazon and I'm extremely happy. with an iPhone 12 Pro I get speeds up to 700 Mb on wireless. Deco can be set up by connecting each unit to each other with a RJ 45 cable. Each unit has 3 ports so you have either two or one extra port at each unit .

I have purchased many netgear products, and after warranty, and they do not support with any type of repair .
