These were $70 a couple months ago... common to find them <$100 on daily type sales.

I wouldn't be surprised to see these for $69-$79 in 2 weeks. Wink Fasteners Inc always has the sickest deals on Black Friday, but you gotta be FAST because they might only have 100 of each tool.

So, If you bought one on Amazon, you can always return it by Jan 31st if a better deal pops up. Smilie Even now, the two 5ah battery pack deals for $199 offer this as a "free tool".

And as far as the 887 goes, it's probably the most reliable impact driver Dewalt has. The newer "Atomic" line might boast more, albeit worthless, torque... but they also have lower quality components inside as well. Especially when it comes to bearings and trigger relays. So I'd rather take an 887 of an 840 or 850. Because if you're driving fasteners that need that much torque, then an impact driver is already the wrong tool to use.

The current deal that's 199 for the battery+free tool - hackable doesn't have the 887 as a free item.

Like you said, the 887 is their best driver overall. Some of the ones that goes on sale for <100 are usually the single speed versions.
