DCB850 is better and you can still get at Home Depot for $76. Buy the battery bundle then Just return the battery.

no, atomic products are smaller. they are not "worse". the dcf850 is more powerful than the 887 while at the same time being smaller. 850 is the most powerful 1/4" impact dewalt ever made. it makes the rest of their 1/4" impacts irrelevant

here is one of a trillion videos you can find showing the 850 absolutely shitting on the 887 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tClyOP6ju-A

It's a little bit weird. The driver in the post (887) is from the last gen. In that generation, the Atomic driver of the time (809) was worse. The 850 is newer and better than both, it's just called Atomic. There is no new XR model.

I think the price tag should be around $70 to make it a deal. It's an old model and recent sale from Fasteners was $69.

I own an 850 to replace my aging 887, and it's definitely a step up from the 887 in every way. The problem is that Dewalt launched the Atomic line with subpar tools (809 and 708)... This gave the "Atomic line" a bad rap, and even tho the newer atomic tools are what we were promised at launch (smaller/same power), only the upto date will know that....

The 850 is a great tool, XR is the top of the line tho. Even if the 850 performs better it might be possible that the components are not as high quality as what is in XR. Or maybe not, I'm just putting this out there as a possibly.

And this is coming from someone that only has atomic and still thinks they are amazing.

Ya so what is actually better on the XR in this comparison. Seems atomic 850 is the way to go

Nothing as of now, 850 seems to be the best out there as far as performance. I'm just saying XR tools might have better longevity

There not using better quality parts in the XR the 887 used to smoke more than any other impact that all companies have some tools that just stand out. They were releasing there 1.7ah powerstack battery almost simultaneously with the 850. So my guess is they gave it modes and that extra ummmppff of power. Because those to are an awesome combination. In general though the XR is usually the best unless Flexvolt 60v or Flexvolt Advantage is available in the same tool.. like my 578 Circ saw will eat up any XR
