I think the best deal for an unlocked S22 that does not require a trade in is at Google Fi for about $400 ($299 + tax + $100 for 4 months of Fi service). Add another $3-5 for a number to port in unless you already have one. You just activate the Fi phone, then remove the Fi sim and don't touch it again. The phone is unlocked and can be used with any provider immediately. Just make sure you don't put the Fi sim in any other phone.

Do you have a recommendation for where to get a number to port in?

The easiest way is to create a dummy Google voice number (on a secondary or throw away Google account). Then pay $3 to unlock it (i.e, make it portable). That's how I got the number to port into Fi. In the past, I bought numbers to port from eBay, but the Google Voice trick is cheaper and more fool proof.
