I will take that back. When I log into Citi benefits site I see the notice about upcoming changes to Extended Warranty. They are doing away from the extended warranty altogether post 23rd Jan 2023. That is shocking and one of the best benefits of Citi Costco Visa card that I used to rely heavily on for big ticket items like Tv and laptops and all electronics.. heck even if I bought stuff at Walmart of Bestbuy I used the Citi card just for its extended warranty. First the Travel benefits (trip cancellation and disruption) was taken away couple of years ago and now this... Super disappointing..

Sorry for making a laptop post, a ranting about Citi Costco card. I just cannot believe they are doing this..

Thunderbolt 3 does not use USB protocol but it needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface to be implemented. It uses PCI-E over USB using PCIe Tunneling. Inprove your knowledge a bit. And another thing, it is not Intel propriertary anymore, since 2019. How do you think Apple M1 and and M2 SOC are using it? Before playing smart, you actually need to imrpve the knowledge a bit rather than throwing some jargons you collected from here and there.

And another thing. the processor supporting USB4 or Thunderbolt does not mean every laptop with those supported Processors can have that. They still need to implement the port physically and use PCIe Tunneling which costs money and increases the cost. Otherwise every Intel Processor based laptops at any price would have been having it,

Detailed Spec and Review: https://laptopmedia.com/review/ac...o-av14-51/

Note: The Webcam is 1080p as per Acer Site and the above link. I think CostCo mentioning it as 720p is incorrect.

Thanks!
I would buy a refurb Latitude before a new Inspiron. Inspirons are full of whatever parts were cheapest that week and non standardized. Quality ranges from piss poor to decent. Wouldn't buy one if you paid me and have too many stories of fairly hilarious failures over the years. Latitudes are better built but I won't touch Dell with a 10 foot pole reliability-wise.

I would definitely go with the Acer over the Dell. The 14" display is a lot easier to carry around. Since the Vero has TB4, you can charge it with a PD type-c charger. I normally just bring one 90w USB-c charger for my laptop and phone.

Thunderbold uses USB protocol. Its just another Intel's proprietary interface and any intel processor will USB4.0 will have TBT4.
CPU having TB4 doesn't mean the mobo have it implemented. plenty of cheap laptops are missing TB4 support

Do you mean last longer physically?

I do appreciate the more squarish case design. I hate sloped cases of all types that try to shave incremental mm here and there to seem smaller.

Review and disassembly video:

Or, if you are too lazy to read:

They measured some pretty good contrast/low black levels for the display.
Thank you! The review was very helpful!

Good specs for sub $500 laptop. Feels like 2019 seeing these prices again. . .can only hope this trend continues.

I just bought the last dell slick-deal from Costco for $449.

I'm debating returning that and getting this acer or the 15.6 dell you referenced but I'm not sure yet.

Disagree - laptop prices, unlike almost everything else in the world, have dropped significantly over the past 2-3 years. I don't think at any point in 2019 you could get the latest generation i5 (at the time), 16GB, 512GB, and a decent display for < $500.
