Along with the regulars Xbox Controller, target has 40% off the Adaptive Controller; which is specifically built for those with disabilities; essentially it's a controller that can be customized to work however the user needs fit.

Just piggybacking on what was said earlier. I have a son born with a severe disability leaving his right hand with no grip at all. However we're fortunate because he's cognitively typical otherwise.

Effectively Microsoft went out and designed a controller almost precisely for his use case. Unfortunately we only have a PS4 ( bought it well before this was invented) but this makes me highly likely to switch to Xbox going forward.

I guess what I'm saying is, Microsoft is far from being a "noble" company. But what they did in this particular instance is literally one of the noblest things I have ever seen a company do. My genuine feeling from someone completely unassociated with the organization in any way, shape or form.
This is probably the single most impactful device ever created for the disabled gaming scene. Disabled gamers basically had to get custom controller setups created for them by a medical device professional, so that can easily surpass $2k very quickly.

This controller lets you set up whatever controls layout you want by plugging buttons and sensors into the back row of 3.5mm audio jacks.

To see this niche of a product on sale at all is amazing. I would honestly buy one just to support the design team for making something so pro consumer.
Son has cerebral palsy, gonna give this a try

This is so cool to see on SD! Good on Target for discounting this, because a lot of people on disability don't have much money. Heart warmed today

If you have a Playstation 4 you can get this to work using a USB adapter. I don't know if there's a work around for PS5. Sony made it difficult to use other controllers on PS5.

I'm assuming this device requires full use of the user's hands to be helpful?

We have a family friend that loves to watch our daughter play smash bros from his wheelchair, however his range of motion with his hands is extremely limited. I would love to get this and an Xbox for him for Christmas. Thanks!

Not sure if it's supported for smash.

There's a smash knockoff called Brawlhalla that's on all platforms.

The point of the giant buttons is for people without good finger control. You could attach more buttons for the sides of his head or his mouth. Check out quadstick.com

Here's a non mouth wheelchair setup for someone who looks like they have poor arm control:
