hmm. interesting and good to know. when i tried this a few weeks ago, I was told no go. phone had to be in store to activate.

then the only thing i can guess is they didnt know about the activation discount and just took the activate later option.

Do you have a PC? You can use Smart Switch on it to backup phone, then restore when you get new one.

I wanted to do this yesterday and after trade in processing was done I was setting up my S22+ and the rep said I can't do the data transfer on my own even if I know how to do it.His logic was that as I traded in my mobile its no longer mine and BB reps only can do the data transfer with smart switch and it would not be free.Fortunately except apps I did a backup of media and documents so I didn't go ahead and performed a factory reset and handed over my S21 to the rep.

Yea, ymmv, when you meet a bad reps, most nice rep will let you do it. Some rep are just too shame to be a person. Lol
