You might be joking but part of the problem today is that kids pick up on prejudices adults carry around them leading to more polarization. Kids need to learn to think critically on their own and make their judgements.

Very out of date color scheme. Kids should know states are either blue or red. Every few years some could flip flop. Latest scheme is still in the work and probably not completed for another month. πŸ˜†

They don't need the states to be colored as that will take memorization.

They just need to know large cities are blue, desolate areas are red. Lesson done!

P.S. - When I give this to my kids I'm removing Florida. I don't want them to know about that insane place… just going to pretend it's like Puerto Rico… tell them we own it, but we don't like it enough to make it a state.

Agree that kids are very good at picking up prejudices from adults (who should have none in the first place!) I was half kidding but that can actually be a US History class lesion. Blue, red, swings states are facts of life and will not disappear as long as the electoral college voting system is still around. One could pretend to be colorblind but facts won't change. Vast majority of people' lives throughout the country can be affected by a few swing states, in addition to disproportionally tiny percentage of people living in the usually red states middle of US. Winning the popular vote doesn't necessarily make you the US president. Acknowledging the differences in colors, or problems is first step if you wanna get rid of the Electoral College. πŸ™‚

So this has to be made political now? For the record, without the electoral college a few swing states would always elect the President. Red states pay taxes, are they not to ever have a voice? Those sparsely populated states are where most of the crops are grown, or are the states you probably like to visit for their beauty. The farmers that feed you (judging from your lack of knowledge of American Government and Civics) no doubt do more WORK before daylight than you've done in your life.

This is awesome. My 4 year old daughter loves it and as a result, she now knows all 50 states and state capitals. Great educational product.

Complains about people making it about politics, rants about politics and insults everyone all at the same time while projecting a sense of superiority and elitism. Pretty impressive for a post about a kids map.
