Are these watches still relevant in 2022?

I have the old Epix that serves me well for hiking, but it's not something I would wear daily due to its size and looks. Would 6 Sapphire be an overkill for mostly hiking that I could also wear as a daily watch?
I have been using the garmin forerunner 935 since 2018 and its still relevant. Fenix 6 uses newer tech but last time I compared them it wasn't that big of a change. F6 has added features and as for the size and weight, its a bit heavier than 935 and more durable and has that premium feel to it -49g vs 83g. If you have a small wrist, I would suggest going with the S variant.... I usually wear my watch 24/7 and doesn't bother me that much. I am 5ft11, 206ibs and it doesn't look big on my wrist.
I am sure garmin will have a better discounted deal if you can wait few more weeks.

Just a FYI, I did some research
The Fenix 7 is seemingly a much bigger upgrade from the 6 than previous versions
Folks are saying the upgrade is almost a two iteration jump if not more
Probably going to pass on this for BF deals on the 7 this year or even next

I have the Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire (I think Pro maybe not) and it is the best watch I have ever owned. The face is great shape. Bumped and nicked the metal being rough but the glass has held up remarkable.

This is one of those watches if I ever broke it I would buy another immediately

If you're looking at the 7, also consider the Epix 2 with its much upgraded display.

I think so. I'm sporting the 5X and though there are limitations, it has served me well.

Doesn't have METAR/TAF readings for nearby airports. But for an widget/app for that. Didn't have a jump master option, either but the Tactix variation does. The Pilot version does have the way points and ability to use it for flying, but I also have a Garmin app so there's that.

Yeah, tactile is still cool compared to touch screen when you're bouncing around. And they're definitely built to withstand abuse.

My next will be the 7/Tactix Pro and that's about $100 off at REI coming soon IIRC.

Agreed. I think the question is if they're still worth it at the price, when you can put those dollars towards the latest model which has more software support, new hardware (screen and HR sensor and in some cases dual gps), and years later a better resale value.

I'd suggest the 955. Comes with all the features of the Fenix minus the sapphire screen. I have the 955 solar from the last deal and couldn't be happier.

Note: check your insurance provider for discounted Garmin store. Blue Cross offers all watches new for 20% off msrp.

I have the Fenix 6 sapphire. I highly recommend the sapphire version. The glass doesn't have a single scuff/scratch and I've had this since its release.

The thing I hate most about the watch is how slow it is. I've not looked up a comparison video, but I would hope the Fenix 7 is faster to respond. Every click is hundreds of ms of delay which is extremely annoying.

Beyond that, I love it. The watch looks great, feels premium, and will probably last a long time.

Any MTN bike or moto guys use this? I could see possible benefits of d/l ing maps from a trailforks subscription. But have no idea how good the trail mapping is for native Garmin maps.
