The rubber on the bottom of these is like sidewalk gum in the sunshine. Its soft, It grips and holds the pins on proper flat pedals quite securely, with traction that cannot be found with skate shoes, casual sneakers, or your favorite slides or crocks.

If a person is just riding their mountain bike on short distances around town, he/she wouldn't benefit as much but mountain bike trails are different especially if the difficulty is increased.
