Well, after that $79 for 2TB deal in MicroCenter, this looks like no deal at all. Unless someone really believes that ADATA > INLANDlaugh out loud

If you don't live near a MicroCenter, like meFrown, these are the second best deals. This ADATA is a lot faster in R/W speeds, but you can't beat $80 for 2TB.

Yeah but it was available for shipping as well. I missed that too, but not intending to buy a consolation prize. BF is on the way so there will be other deal. Just don't jump on the "barely OK" deals is all I am saying

Depends on what you need it for, there's a reason that one was priced so low. It was Gen 3, QLC (I believe) and didn't have DRAM.

This is gen 4, almost double the speed of the Inland, TLC, but still doesn't have a DRAM cache. For this one, you're paying more for TLC and gen 4 speeds.

Simple storage of songs, pictures, or documents (i.e. lots of smallish files), the Inland is perfectly fine. If the need is for the PS5, then you have to have gen 4 and it's not clear this is even fast enough. This one would be better if speed and larger files is what you need it for. Best would be one with DRAM so it's even better suited for larger files.

For my purpose, 2TB slower speed would be better as I need them for the NAS I am building

That drive too slow for PS5, SLC caching / TLC > QLC, PCIe 4.0 x 4 > 3.0, like vtec26 said "Depends on what you need it for.." That said, if I had a micro center nearby, def would'a picked one up for storage. There's also mention of new technology effectively doubling capacity which will shift prices soonTM, 4TB at 2TB prices and so on.. /drool

I stopped in today and directed someone to the 1TB one on sale rather than the 2TB. The 2TB is a good deal for what it is, I just wont be buying QLC drives.

What would you suggest be the best use for that microcenter drive? For keeping games on or for a primary drive?
