This is greatly exaggerated, and even Rtings shows a very small change. They certainly are not 'nerfed'.

I have had them for about 8 months now and didn't even notice any difference at all. IMO, that thread should not stop you from getting them.

If you're in the Apple ecosystem these are fantastic--they sound amazing, are super comfortable, incredible quality, and work seamlessly across devices. Heck I don't even mind the bra. Very impressed for someone who went in a skeptic.

My AirPod pros suddenly have diminished active noise canceling. From what I've read, it's because apple is being sued from a patent troll.

So who's to say it won't happen to these headphones?

The thing with Apple is that their products are almost always evolving. Even if there is much to this change, I've no doubt they will improve with future updates. Hang on to an Apple product long enough and it will one day often be better than the day you bought it, such as the original HomePod. I've personally benefited many times over in this way and it's taught me patience. Not may companies do this.

Nice deal BTW. This is the lowest price I've seen on Airpods Max, even refurb.

You may not want refurb headphones, but you might think twice as the warranty is pretty good. Trivial stuff I usually get cash payouts on from their provider. Cleaning is pretty low effort.

One pair of headphones, I was refunded the entire purchase price and then was able to buy the same pair brand new with warranty from the same seller. That pair is still lasting me, but if/when something goes wrong with it I have confidence I'll receive the same or similar treatment. Not sure how this free headphones thing into perpetuity would work, since it doesn't really pass the sniff test, but it has been super positive for me.

the counterpoint on there is as valid as the original point, i.e. nothing really pointing at anything getting nerfed.

just as likely that someone is loving the increased ad revenue from clickbait 'findings'.
