I had the forerunner 55, the most current low end forerunner and currently have the 735xt. For less than half the price of the 55, the 735xt is a steal. It has a much bigger screen which is huge especially if you are over 40 like me. The only feature I miss from the 55 is the body battery. Sleep tracking on both is garbage. Both seem to have comparable gps and heart rate accuracy at least for me. Both are small and lightweight. The battery on the 55 lasts a bit longer, but the 5 days I get out of the 735xt is plenty.

I have had a lot of Garmin watches. I agree that the feature sets are not that much better now than in 2016. I know the optical HR sensors are supposed to be better. The newer features like pulse ox, sleep tracking, body battery, etc. don't hold much value for me.

Same here. I upgraded from 235 to 245m a couple years ago and nothing is really any different, I do like being able to swap out bands easily, but thats really it.

Next garmin watch I get will have Golf built in. Cant see anything else I'd want or need.

Multi-band/multi-track is a nice feature because the GPS accuracy is much improved with it enabled I really appreciate that on my new Garmin 955. Even with just normal GPS the accuracy seems much better on the new watch than my previous Garmin Fenix 3 HR which came out in mid 2016.

I got one last weekend, after my old watch died.
I charged it up early Sunday morning. I've done 4 ~45minute runs this week, and the battery is at 31% Friday afternoon.
So it looks like a weekly charge will work for me.

Sorry I'm a noob on smart watches. Do you have to have a data plan for gps to work?
