I believe they meant is a lot companies who bought Herman Miller chair for employees would be selling those chairs as they liquidate from bankruptcy and the chair flood the 2nd hand market.

Herman Miller is not itself is not "a lot of companies" and will be fine like you said and will likely provide support for those 2nd hand chairs if any issues come up.

Call a local dealer and you'll likely get Embody or Aeron for under $1k. That's what I did almost 2 years ago, and still love my Embody.

This what I did, I think I paid about $1100 delivered for my Embody with a few upgrades. Retail price was $1900 for my Combination.

Sadly not anymore, they had two price hikes, 2021 and 2022. Dealer I originally got a Embody for from $1084 is now $1325, which roughly matched another dealer I checked recently as well.
I'm shocked HM did something over 15% off.

It's the same except for the backplate color option and the ridges in the front. The copper foam is a gimmick and doesn't add or takeaway. This vs ordering from a distributor for the same price, you'll get this chair now vs a 5-8 week wait for them to build the office version.

Wow these did go up, I got the Logitech colored Embody on Aug 2021 slickdeal for $1355, and the receipt says the MSRP before discount was $1595... now MSRP is $1795, but looks like the 25% off brings it down to what I paid, so that's good. I really like the chair though, am in in 10-12 hours a day... much less back pain that with my previous WorksomethingPro 9000 slickdeal from Lenovo... no regrets!

Bought the gaming embody for my home after I moved the embody I had at my house to be my normal chair at my office. I can't tell you how much better this chair is for posture/adjustability than the normal run of the mill chair from normal office supply stores. I may be in a separate camp after 5 back surgeries but this chair helps more than anything I have found to this point. It may be overpriced to some people but it you have any issues where posture leads to aches and pain then this chair is well worth it imo.
