On the other hand, the AMD setup (assuming 7700X, because that's a fair fight) comes out to be around $640. So you're saving around $190.
The AMD setup is 42% more expensive. Now the question becomes is the performance gain also going to be more than 42%?
(Of course, we're leaving out future proofing here, but if that's important to you, be sure to factor that into the cost-benefit analysis.)
