Samsung partnered up with Best Buy to allow Samsung.com orders to be picked up from your local Best Buy. Check out the article https://www.theverge.com/2021/11/...up-service

Same thing except it doesn't have a heatsink (used to lower temperatures on the M.2). If you're planning on using it for the PS5, I highly recommend getting one with the heatsink.

For those with Samsung perks at work / student discount:

980 Pro 2TB - $161.99 https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...8p2t0b-am/ (Must Login to See discount)

Oddly, I got an option for pickup at a local Best Buy.

I've had this in my Amazon cart for a week debating whether to buy it or not. Wondering if Black Friday would bring a better deal. Well it dropped down to 189.99 from a sale price of 219.99 so didn't hesitate.

Got for my PS5.

Can you please check how much is the 1TB 990 pro on your account? My friend works in Samsung corporate office and he is getting like $189 on 2TB and $101 on 1TB.

Which is weird because usually they get better discounts that any other perks like Student/Military/etc.

This right here makes it worth Sony charging an extra $50 for their console. The ability to use non proprietary drives to upgrade storage. 2TB for under $200 while MS is charging $200 for 1TB
Then you ought to love apple charging $100 increases for 64gb/128gb. They are the most repugnant and rapacious company on earth IMO....

From my personal Samsung Perks at Work account associated with a partner company I work for:

990 Pro 1TB (No Heatsink) - $169.99 (MSRP) >> $161.49. (Pre-Order)
990 Pro 1TB (With Heatsink) - $189.99 (MSRP) >> $180.49. (Pre-Order)

990 Pro 2TB (No Heatsink) - $289.99 (MSRP) >> OOS (No discount shown)
990 Pro 2TB (With Heatsink) - $309.99 (MSRP) >> OOS (No discount shown)

Assuming your friend is looking at the recently released 990 pro, $101 (1TB) / $189 (2TB) is a fantastic price. I've watched the 990 pro 2TB models for a couple weeks but they were only available for pre-order.

Early reviews indicate the 990 pro will be one of the top performing PCI4.0 devices on the market. Assuming a competitive price point, I'd certainly buy it over other top tier gen 2 / gen 3 PCI 4.0 NVME drives due to Samsung's brand and reliability + support record over the past ~10 years.

Now PCIe 5.0 is the next milestone... Samsung was a little slow to the party with their PCIe 4.0 gen 2 drive. Hopefully they pick up the pace on 5.0.

Is it true an update is needed before using it in a PS5? If so, how do I update this?

That is interesting because even the local sherrifs office in my area have .gov emails.

Here is the link

You could also go to ID.me and try there. I think they have other verification methods.
There wasn't a link, but the IDme worked. Got the discount, thanks for the help.
