Life's been fine. Definitely not what I thought it would be at this stage of my life but it is what it is. If you read my posts in the podium, you may have read that I started participating in the podium when I became more house bound due to physical limitations. This has not changed and continually gets worse. I rarely go out; when I do it's usually for something medically related. I do miss reading the posts in the podium; it certainly opened my eyes to how others feel and think. It also gave me something different to do with my time. I sometimes visit the lounge but it's not the same. I think I may be too old to grasp some of the comments made there.

And thanks for your 'good writer' compliment. I've always felt my writing is an area that definitely needs improvement. My sister is the one in my family that got the talent for good writing. There again, I do what I can with what I have.

Have a good day and stay safe.
Sorry to hear this! Hope your medical condition improves. I've never been to the Podium or Lounge, kinda scared!! Maybe I'll give it a quick look. Don't think I'd enjoy it, but will check to see, one of these days!
Feel better.

Thanks. I have many chronic conditions that most likely will not improve but I've accepted them and have learned to live with them. Thankfully, I always lived my life to do things when one can and not to put off til tomorrow and that has served me well. Probably got this attitude since my father died when I was seven and he was only 45 with many plans to 'do some day' in the future.

FYI: The Podium is no longer around but I thought was fun while it was. The Lounge is okay. Definitely not as scary as The Podium was at first. A few fun threads (at least for me) in The Lounge are 'Make a sentence from 5 letters', 'Free association', 'True or False', and 'This or that'. Check it out someday; you can always just lurk and maybe you'll find some threads you want to participate in.

Have a good day!

I'm glad that you were able to beat you demons. It's not an easy thing to do. I'm a horrible patient. I have too many problems and none of my symptoms make any medical sense. To
top it off, I always say the wrong thing.
My demons arent beat, just under control at the moment. It's a tenuous control and I'm happy for each better day I get.

I had a massive heart attack in Oct. Two of my arteries were 100% closed and the the third was 80% closed. They did an angiogram but were not able to put in a stent. The plan was for me to rest up and have open heart surgery in a few months but I had another heart attack the night before I was going to be discharged and they did the surgery the next day. Three months later the two arteries from my open heart surgery closed and I had another heart attack. They did an angiogram and this time they were able to put in a stent. They gave me a blood thinner to keep the stent open and I had my fourth heart attack. They switched me to a different blood thinner and had to go back to the hospital with severe shortness of breath. Then they switched me to the third blood thinner and I developed ulcerative colitis (which is a side effect of this medication). Now I'm back to the second blood thinner and I'll stay on it for as long as I can. I have low blood pressure (it's usually around 100/60 but it can go lower) and my heart rate is around 40. I come close to fainting multiple times each day. Some days I can walk 5 miles and other days I can't walk 50 feet. I have all sorts of weird symptoms like my left leg will start shaking every few minutes and I'll lose my coordination and not be able to control where I'm going and walk into things.
Please make sure your most recent blood work checked your B12 levels. Doctors seldom order it in their blood work tests and symptoms of low B12 levels are all over the place, including some of what you have described above and in some of your past comments.

If anybody can beat their demons, you can. You seem like a very strong person.

I have a B-12 deficiency which is why I always jump on the Rite Aid vitamin deals. I take 10,000 mcg daily. I also need to take potassium and magnesium. I get the potassium from the pharmacy and the magnesium as a supplement. My potassium can drop really low if I don't take it all of the time. Sometimes they put me on the big horse pills and I have to take 3 a day. Don't ever take potassium as a drink. Never ever do that especially if it's a combo with magnesium. I'm on a bunch of new meds from my doctor's appointment yesterday and I'm definitely not going shopping or driving. I'm on a nerve medication that makes me very sleepy as well as steroids (for my arm and ulcerative colitis) and I finally took the anti-anxiety pill because it will make my doctor very happy when I see her next week (and also because of Kiki's post). My leg shaking started when I broke my hip 15 years ago but I haven't had it in a very long time. It started up again after my heart surgery but it's not as bad as it used to be. As for walking into things, that also started after my heart surgery. It's weird, I'll start drifting and I can't stop it or I'll turn too soon and walk into the wall. It's almost funny because it's so stupid.
I also have a B-12 deficiency, and it can absolutely also cause you to walk into a wall or drift. I have stories I could tell about the crazy things that happened to me before I got it under control.

After you've religiously taken your B-12 for a week or two, you might want to have your doctor check your levels again. What you're taking might be enough, but at one point, my doctor was giving me B-12 shots once a month because even the OTC vitamins were not enough to get it into my system reliably. When I was getting shots, my husband could tell when I was late by even one day in getting my B-12 shot.

I was diagnosed with a B-12 deficiency around 4 years ago. Unfortunately, I haven't always been great with taking my vitamins. I'd take them for a couple months and then skip them when the bottle ran out but after my heart attack that all had to change and I take everything that I'm supposed to. The biggest change I felt was when I started taking potassium after they told me I had a deficiency. It was like I was on the rocket launch pad. B-12 helps me a little bit but really not that much. I don't feel any difference with magnesium but they want me to take it. Something I took this morning is totally wiping me out. They told me that the nerve meds might do that. It's helping with my arm pain. I almost took Norco this morning because the pain was really bad but I held off because I thought that I was going shopping later. It looked like it was going to be a nice day but now it's pouring down rain. Glad I stayed home. I couldn't have gone shopping anyway because of the nerve stuff. My brain is like jello right now. Not really a bad feeling but I can't think and I certainly couldn't work a deal. Not that there are any good deals to be had at CVS and then you can't count on your ecb's being there when you go to use them. It's all good, I shouldn't be shopping anyway. As much as I can't stand Gwenyth Paltrow, I'm glad that she won her case. The other guy was clearly in the wrong. I watched a little bit of the trial. I think that the 2nd animation is pretty close to what actually happened. The guy didn't hit her on purpose and Gwenyth didn't do a hit and run. The guy sued her because he was out for money and Gwenyth is very unlikeable so he thought it would be a slam dunk but the jury was too smart for him. I guess that Trump got indicted but I couldn't care less. I don't even know what the charges are.
The B12 should be helping you. Still to this day, I can tell by noon if I messed up and didn't take my B12 that day. By 3pm on a day when I haven't taken my B12, I am exhausted. If I go a whole day without B12, I'm ready to go to bed at 9pm (vs my normal bedtime of about midnight).

If they haven't given you a specific schedule (which they probably haven't), you need to ask one of the nurses at your doctor's office if s/he could help you put together a schedule for all your medicines. For example, I take my B12 with one other medication first thing in the morning. The rest of my vitamins (I take many) are spread throughout the day, at least 30 minutes apart (and further apart for certain ones).

I'm on a strict schedule of when I take my heart meds. I'm also on a strict schedule with the steroids but fortunately it's only for 6 days. They give you instructions on the back of how to take it but they're so small that I can't read it even with my reading glasses on. Most nights I don't sleep very much. Trazodone knocks me out but I don't like taking it. I don't know why. There aren't any side effects. Ever since I had my hip surgery I've been struggling with insomnia. The pain when you fracture your hip is way past 10 level so you need something really strong. They pumped me full of heroin or whatever it was after my surgery and I totally tripped out. I couldn't sleep for a long time after that and I still have insomnia. I'm lucky to get 2 hours of sleep a night on my own but with Trazodone it's 5 or 6.
Take a picture with your phone and blow it up.

Thank you, your comment upthread gave me a lift. Smilie

One other thing on the B12. For me, since taking it OTC, I have found that if I haven't taken it by 2pm, I have to suffer through the rest of the day or know that I'm not going to be able to sleep until 2 - 3 hours past my bedtime. That's how I know how I feel as the day passes by if I don't get it taken, and why I take it first thing in the morning.

I understand that small print, it gets many of us. Good luck!
