Pro tip: all summer long, buy standard 20 pound empty propane cylinders at garage sales for five bucks apiece. Collect five of them. Take all five to your local welding gas shop, and trade them in against a 100 pound cylinder. You should only have to pay for gas contents. Wouldn't hurt to call your local welding supply store first to see if they will accommodate this, though.

Hopefully forever.
But the good thing about propane is it stores indefinitely. It's the reason I got a duel fuel generator. It's fuel source stores for a long time and I don't have to worry about a clogged up carburetor .

Why not keep the 20 lb'ers? Easier to get refilled, move, etc. One centralized tank vs 5 decentralized? Why not the latter?

Looks like a good deal, I want it but I have no use for it lol
With tanks this big do you take it to get filled or have one of those companies come fill it up?

Grabbed one!
I actually purchased another one of these tanks previously for my generator also and it was $100 over this price at the time of purchase.
Definitely a great deal here!

edit: NVM it was a 40lb tank for the same price, this is an excellent deal! going to get another!

you can definitely go and get this filled. It's a little heavy when full though.

You can use either or but it's 70 pounds empty and almost 200 pounds full. So if you're going to take it to fill it, bring help.

Hand truck and ratchet strap go a long way on this regard.

What is the cost to have a truck come to my home and fill two to four of these compared to taking smaller tanks to the local gas station to fill?

I'm guessing it costs more to have a truck come to me than going to the gas station to fill my 20lb tanks myself but maybe I'm wrong.

I'm currently juggling 6x 20lb tanks, taking them in and filling them twice a month, I'd love to have these instead but I can't take these to the gas station to fill, I can't lift them and they'd destroy my car.

Are these ready to fill out of the box? Or do they need a valve of some sort?

Great idea but be aware the valves on tanks must be tested and/or replaced after a period of time (possibly 6 years?)
