The math checks out that this is probably like last years BF deal for the reliant tires, with free one-time mounting and balancing included ($12 per tire)

Savings of $128 is $80 for the tires, $48 for the labor... Which comes out to $12 a tire. Since it's $17 for lifetime balancing and rotation (now) , you'd pay the $5 balance x 4 to get it to $68 total for labor.

You can also pay $10 x 4 for road hazard, but IMO, when tires are this cheap (for my car at least), it almost isn't worth it... Just get a new tire for that $40.

If you get goodyear brand tires, goodyear stores will fix your flats for free even if you didn't buy it from them... That's usually the bulk of the road hazard coverage that I acrually use.

I have the reliants on my '13 prius... No issues at all. Very thick tread depth even after a year, and though my car isn't a hotrod by any measure, these have worked great through all types of weather. Haven't tested them in the winter as I switch to winter every January.

In past years these deals included mounting and lifetime balance. I will update the OP once the full terms are available on Walmart.com.

UPDATE: The banner which was shared multiple times in this thread clearly shows free install and balance. I had a chat with Walmart, and they stated it is a free one-time balance with the installation. If I wanted lifetime balance, then I must pay extra. I contacted my local Walmart, and they confirmed this, and said they are doing free installs and one time balance up to and including Sunday November 27th.

Click the link below and look at post #342 for a screenshot showing free install and balance if you have a problem at the Walmart installation center.

I am experiencing the same (So California) and I have tried all the nearby and somewhat far stores and superstores all with tire center. None having time for free tire installment but apparently if you pay, time magically becomes available. As for this deal, only option is to use my home address for a free shipping there.

As said earlier, wonder if I get the tire shipped to me, then take to store, would they honor their alleged Free Installation when they have time and can see my receipt of buying in the eligible time for free installation., or all is part of Greed/Laziness syndrome and simple rejection calling no scheduling time!

Never had such an experience in Costco before and wish they would price match or had these tires in their shop.
Per my previous post, buy the tires online using a credit card and ship them to your house. Take a screen shot of the main Walmart page showing the free installation and balance. Bring the tires to the local Walmart to mount and balance. Show the manager the promo page and ask for the free installation and balance. If the manager refuse, then pay for the install and balance (no need to replace the valve core or valve stem). Keep the old tires to avoid disposal fee. You can drop them off at Sams Club for free.

Keep the receipt. Contact Walmart (1-800-925-6278) and ask for a refund of the install and balance fees. If Walmart say NO, then tell the CSR that you will file a dispute with the credit card company. Use AMEX if possible. 100% protection if you provide good documentation of the problem.

I can help check the tire balance and suspension wear since you are local. Get a digital tire gauge to check tire pressure. Do not trust the gauge found at gas station.

So the website officially says FREE INSTALL AND BALANCE. Case closed. Its on the front page. Crisis averted.
Yes ...but in Cali they charged me the recycling fee and valve stem.

Do I dispute or is this a valid charge?

Not sure about the Valve Stem, but many states have a tire disposal/recycling fee. Any tire/auto shop will likely be charging this fee too.

I got a question, I paid $20 for 4 tires

4 X $2(lifetime balance upgrade )

4 x $3 ( apparently tpms valve stems?)

I thought I was only supposed to pay $8
Not $20
Aren't new tpms sensors one unit and like $50 each? Maybe the stems are replaceable now, idk.

You are correct. Those sensors are very expensive and require reprogramming after replacement, Most places just replace the valve core. Remove those sensors when you buy new tires and check the pressure once a month with a digital pressure gauge.

The sealed battery inside the sensor is good for about 8 years. When the battery goes out, you'll see the warning light on the dash.

Tire recycling fee is a legit charge in CA unless you keep your old tire! The tire shop should ask you if you want to keep the old valve stem. My 1986 Mazda is still equipped with the OEM valve stems.

I have installed my 3 tires 215 60 r16 reliant today at Walmart auto care and they didn't honor Black Friday promotion $12 discount on installation and balancing for each tire and I ended paying $14 per tire. I reached out to Walmart representative on chat saying store charged full price without any discount as per promotion and even chat guy is not able to help me refunding the amount and finally said in 48 hrs concerned team will reach me to address my issue.

As a second try, I reached them on phone and finally explaining the situation for couple of times, they refunded me $36 for 3 tires and immediately it was reflected on my card. Hope this helps .

Recycling is from the state, so that isnt a charge from Walmarts side.

The valve stem is a weird one...esp as so many cars have TPMS, they aint replacing that whole module...so WTF did they do? Did they add a service pack? (gaskets, etc)

I wonder about this as well. My TPMS sensor have gone bad. Will they replace it if I give them the parts?

I've never bought tires from Walmart, how do you know if the tires will include mounting and balance? The description doesn't make it clear . Thanks

They'll put it on for you, but there's no guarantee they can program/relearn it to your vehicle

Yes, TPMS service pack for $3 - replace the outer metal and rubber gasket or rubber stem if applicable

No they shouldn't, old valve stems are rubber junk. There's zero chance you're still using your original 1986 valve stems unless they're the metal type.

Paid $520+taxes for 4 18" Goodyear outlast tires. They won't let me buy the lifetime balancing and rotation due to them being on discount....
Whatever Walmart tire center saying that is messing with you, you should only be paying $8 total for lifetime balance and rotation

🙏🏻. Very much appreciated your detail answer. You seem to know this stuff very well and right from beginning I was very suspicious that this particular dealer has never rotated my tires or why so early OEMs should fail this bad!
Again, thank you.
Wearing on the outside edge is an alignment issue, not rotation. Wearing on both outside edges is underinflation.
